5081. Robert John - Sad Eyes

Image
From: Robert John ; Year: 1979; Genre: Soft Rock/Pop I heard this one on the television last night for the first time in a long while and it brought back some memories. Image
From: Revölution By Night ; Year: 1983; Genre: Hard Rock I've had this song on my mind for a bit now and thought I'd get around to picking it. 5078. Jethro Tull - Quartet

Image
From: Nightcap ; Year: 1993 (1974); Genre: Progressive Rock This one is a neat instrumental piece that consists of four pieces of music that borders on jazz/classical/rock in a package that is less that three minutes in length. 5076. Heart - Never

Image
From: Heart ; Year: 1985; Genre: Hard Rock For the last couple of weeks I've had this song from Heart's "hair band" era running through my mind off and on. Even though they got in with the zeitgeist of the mid 1980s their music really didn't suffer a lot and the band was at the top of their game like normal.   Hear Never on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: The Nice - Country Pie/Brandenburg Concerto No. 6   My song pick 2 years ago today: Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway My song pick 3 years ago today: Stanley Clarke - Opening (Statement)/He Lives On (Story About the Last Journey of a Warrior) My song pick 4 years ago today: Ozric Tentacles - Spacebase My song pick 5 years ago today: ABBA - Two for the Price of One My song pick 6 years ago today: Grateful Dead - Dire Wolf My song pick 7 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Queen and Country My song pick 8 years ago today: Steely Dan - Kid Charlemagne My song pick 9 years ago toda

5075. Queen - It's Late

Image
From: News of the World ; Year: 1977; Genre: Hard Rock I had this great album from Queen on my mind today; after going through the tracks I came upon this song and it was in my opinion a perfect pick for a day such as this. It starts out beautifully, but then goes harder into a riff-based hard rock sound and later into a more straight-up rock and then back again; definitely a very good track to listen to.   Hear It's Late on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: The Alan Parsons Project - Don't Let It Show   My song pick 2 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Commons Brawl My song pick 3 years ago today: Maddy Prior - Catseyes My song pick 4 years ago today: Megadeth - Conquer or Die! 5070. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Travelin' Man

Image
From: Twenty ; Year: 1997; Genre: Southern Rock I remember hearing this one a lot on the radio back in the late '90s/early '00s. The song actually featured the vocals of the late Ronnie Van Zant in a duet with his brother Johnny Van Zant, who is the band's current lead singer. The record's title: Twenty , is also in reference to the airplane crash that took Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines, which was released 20 years after the accident.   Hear Travelin' Man on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Camel - Highways of the Sun   My song pick 2 years ago today: The Guess Who - Three More Days My song pick 3 years ago today: Heart - White Lightning & Wine My song pick 4 years ago today: Audioslave - Nothing Left to Say But Goodbye My song pick 5 years ago today: Eric Burdon & The Animals - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood My song pick 6 years ago today: The Who - 905 My song pick 7 years ago today: The Alan Parsons Project - I Wou

5069. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Mountain Labyrinth

Image
From: Letters from the Labyrinth ; Year: 2015; Genre: Symphonic Metal Needed something a different for today's pick. This one from the latest of TSO album uses a lot from Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain , but in a very metal way, which is not too far off from the original I suppose.
