699 ( John Denver - Season Suite: Summer )

Image
With the summer heat being in full force recently I figured that it would be a good time to finish off picking the sections of John Denver's Season Suite; I have chosen all of the other four sections during the appropriate time of year for each one. This section is similar to the Spring section of the Suite musically and gives it a "bookend" feel to it; The Suite started off with Summer and progressed to Spring. Anyway, this whole Suite is a beautiful collection of music and it would not feel right without adding it to my list. Here is most of the Suite on YouTube; it starts off with the Summer section. +

Song 591 ( John Denver - Season Suite: Spring )

The last couple of days have been incredibly nice; Spring seems like it is finally here after a long and record-breaking Winter. I decided that I would choose the Spring section from John Denver's Season Suite for the occasion. As expected, the song and its lyrics are very uplifting to fit the mood of Spring. To me, I hear a more than a little of his Beatles influence in this song's musical arrangement. Here is most of the Suite on YouTube; the Spring section begins at about the 6:05 mark. +

Song 558 ( John Denver - Season Suite: Late Winter, Early Spring (When Everybody Goes To Mexico) )

It's that time of year when the two seasons are playing a tug-of-war; one minute it can be warm and sunny, the next cold and snow. Very much the epitome on this song, so I figured that I would choose it. This part of the season suite is the most classical sounding, John Denver's guitar work is exquisite in this one. Song 422 ( John Denver - Season Suite - Fall )

This morning I woke up to the first heavy frost covering everything and I knew that the warm days are a thing of the past and winter is knocking at the door. This piece of music came to my mind while I was thinking about preparing for the changes in the weather. This is one of the pieces from a suite of music that he used the seasons as the subject matter: 1. Summer , 2. Fall , 3. Winter , 4. Late Winter/Early Spring , and 5. Spring . There are a lot of memories for me connected to this suite of music. In this song he shows off his singer/songwriter talents in spades, the vocals and musical arrangements are incredible, as always. Here is most of the Season Suite on YouTube , the Fall section begins at the 2:50 mark. +
