From: Master of the Hawaiian Guitar, Volume Two ; Year: 1987 (1938); Genre: Swing Jazz/Hit Parade/Hawaiian Every time I hear this master of music, I am in awe; his music just for some reason doesn't sound dated to me personally, even though much of his music is over 75 years old. Anyway, this is his very unique take on the George Gershwin classic, (even though it wasn't that old of a song at the time he recorded it), and as I said, it has aged incredibly well. From: Sol Hoopii: Master of the Hawaiian Guitar ; Year: 2009 (1927); Genre: Blues I happened to remember that in the year 1889, which is also today's pick number, was when the Hawaiian or steel guitar was invented by Joseph Kekuku . Since the guy who has been teaching me to play the Hawaiian guitar is a huge fan of master guitarist Sol Ho'opi'i I've become well acquainted with his music, so I thought I would pick one of his songs.
