William's Song a Day Blog - est. September 2007

From: Educated Horses ; Year: 2006; Genre: Alternative Metal Since I've been watching a lot of Rob Zombie movies lately I thought I would pick one more of his songs. This one is the namesake and seems to be about the film he released one year prior. Describing each of the main three of the Firefly family with a great grinding groove that is both unnerving and gives you the urge to dance; such a great tune.   Hear The Devil's Rejects on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Stray Cats - Rock This Town     My song pick 2 years ago today: UB40 - Please Don't Make Me Cry   My song pick 3 years ago today: Debbie Harry - Chrome   My song pick 4 years ago today: Funkadelic - Maggot Brain   My song pick 5 years ago today: Jim Steinman - Left in the Dark   My song pick 6 years ago today: Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) - Flat Broke Love   My song pick 7 years ago today: 4 Non Blondes - Spaceman My song pick 8 years ago tod...

From: The Sinister Urge ; Year: 2001; Genre: Alternative Rock/Gothic Rock This is a rather bluesy goth-rock tune that appears on both his The Sinister Urge album as well as the soundtrack to the Rob Zombie film of the same name . I really like this one and reminds me personally of a cross between Concrete Blonde's epic hit Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) and some of the late '80s/1990s Alice Cooper music.   Hear House of 1000 Corpses on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Mike Pinder - Among the Stars   My song pick 2 years ago today: War - All Day Music   My song pick 3 years ago today: Earth, Wind & Fire - Side By Side   My song pick 4 years ago today: Sly & The Family Stone - Shine It On   My song pick 5 years ago today: Rush - We Hold On   My song pick 6 years ago today: Tee Set - Ma Belle Amie My song pick 7 years ago today: Curved Air - Phantasmagoria My song pick 8 years ago today: Roxy Music - Out of the Bl...

My 666th song choice... I guessed that I needed a fitting song for the ominous pick. There were many songs that would fit it, but this one fit best for me; it's an excellent song that I would have added to my list anyway. Of course I love that the song makes references to the film Blade Runner , which is based in the Philip K. Dick novel " Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? ;" a favorite Sci-Fi book and movie of mine. This number in pop culture has been referred to as "the devil's number" or somehow is connected to Satan and/or Hell, however, the Number of the Beast is actually the number of a man. From Book of Revelation 13:18: "Here is the wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." With it being the number of a man, I could not think of a better song than More Human Than Human. Oddly enough some recent discoveries have been found ...

This is the first official day of my semester and I need something to headbang to, so I figured that Rob Zombie would be more than appropriate. This song's titled was supposedly inspired by the car from the television show The Munsters of the same name. I remember, what seems like a long time ago, one of my old friends showed me this song and I was immediately hooked. It is excellent straight ahead, no frills, kickass metal.
