6893. Motörhead - Bye Bye Bitch Bye Bye

Image
From: The Wörld is Yours ; Year: 2011; Genre: Hard Rock/Metal Time for another fast as heck hard rocking song from Lemmy and his band Motörhead. I have said it before, and I'll say it again: I wish to God that I had the same ability to be as unforgivingly eloquent and immune to ridicule as Mr. Ian Kilmister.   Hear Bye Bye Bitch Bye Bye on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Blue Öyster Cult - Don't Come Running To Me     My song pick 2 years ago today: Black Sabbath - Killing Yourself to Live     My song pick 3 years ago today: Al Di Meola - Atavism of Twilight   My song pick 4 years ago today: Lou Reed - My Red Joystick   My song pick 5 years ago today: Stevie Wonder - Don't You Worry About a Thing   My song pick 6 years ago today: Cream - Take it Back   My song pick 7 years ago today: Sweet - Ballroom Blitz My song pick 8 years ago today: Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) - Don't Let the Blues Get You Down ...

6757. Motörhead - Deaf Forever

Image
From: Orgasmatron ; Year: 1986; Genre: Metal/Hard Rock Coincidentally I felt like picking something from Motörhead today and also discovered that their longtime guitarist Philip Anthony Campbell sadly passed away a couple of days ago, so I am definitely choosing one of their songs now.   Hear Deaf Forever on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Porcupine Tree - Rats Return     My song pick 2 years ago today: Steeleye Span - The Wee Free Men   My song pick 3 years ago today: Icehouse - Trojan Blue   My song pick 4 years ago today: Miles Davis - Paraphernalia   My song pick 5 years ago today: Utopia - Set Me Free   My song pick 6 years ago today: Nick Gilder - Rated X   My song pick 7 years ago today: Rush - Second Nature My song pick 8 years ago today: Diana Ross & The Supremes - Someday We'll be Together My song pick 9 years ago today: Megadeth - Dread and the Fugitive Mind My song pick 10 years ago toda...

6579. Motörhead - Lost Johnny

Image
From: Motörhead ; Year: 1977; Genre: Hard Rock/Metal I was talking with someone last night about Lemmy and his band Motörhead and it got me to thinking about picking another song. Both he and musician/journalist/author Mick Ferren wrote the song, which was originally recorded by Hawkwind whilst Lemmy was in the band a few years prior. This version is, as expected, much heavier, chunkier and a less psychedelic version of Lost Johnny.   Hear Lost Johnny on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Funkadelic - Wars of Armageddon     My song pick 2 years ago today: Black 47 - Fanatic Heart   My song pick 3 years ago today: Motörhead - Hellraiser   My song pick 4 years ago today: The Charlie Daniels Band - Reflections   My song pick 5 years ago today: Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot   My song pick 6 years ago today: Victor Wooten - Keep it Low   My song pick 7 years ago today: Klaatu - Calling O...

6293. Motörhead - Bullet In Your Brain

Image
From: Bad Magic: Seriously Bad Magic ; Year: 2023; Genre: Metal You know, one thing that I admired most about the late-great Lemmy was his ability to just not care wot others thought of him; he just lived his life and did as he saw fit. Not that he was a "bad guy" either, every interview or instance of him offstage he seemed like a down-to-earth cool guy that meant no malice, just did not give a rat's behind about others opinion of him. Say wot you want about him, but I'll always admire that about him amongst other things; I only deeply wish that I had that same ability... sadly I don't.   Hear Bullet In Your Brain on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Return to Forever - Hello Again   My song pick 2 years ago today: The Moody Blues - Let Me Go   My song pick 3 years ago today: Heidevolk - Winteroorlog   My song pick 4 years ago today: King Crimson - Providence   My song pick 5 years ago today: Bob Rivers & Twisted Radio - O Chri...

5562. Motörhead - Hellraiser

Image
From: March ör Die ; Year: 1992; Genre: Heavy Metal Here's an interesting song for one reason: it's technically both a cover and original song due to the fact that Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, and Zakk Wylde all co-wrote the song. So, even though Ozzy released his version a little less than a year earlier, this version is very much an original recording as well. I've always really liked this track and it's excellent that two of my favourite heavy metal artists collaborated and recorded their own versions of a great song; double the awesomeness!   Hear Hellraiser on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: The Charlie Daniels Band - Reflections   My song pick 2 years ago today: Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot   My song pick 3 years ago today: Victor Wooten - Keep it Low   My song pick 4 years ago today: Klaatu - Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft My song pick 5 years ago today: Big Country - Fields of Fire (400 Miles) My son...

4836. Motörhead - Shine

Image
From: Another Perfect Day ; Year: 1983; Genre: Hard Rock/Metal I kind of like the somewhat different sound of the music on this album comparatively speaking to the normal Motörhead sound.   Hear Shine on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Hawkwind - Chaos Army/Horn of Destiny   My song pick 2 years ago today: Rainbow - Man on the Silver Mountain My song pick 3 years ago today: Ozric Tentacles - Far Memory My song pick 4 years ago today: Dream Theater - Descent of the NOMACs/Dystopian Overture My song pick 5 years ago today: Vince Guaraldi Trio - Cast Your Fate to the Wind My song pick 6 years ago today: Judas Priest - Living After Midnight My song pick 7 years ago today: Heart - Barracuda My song pick 8 years ago today: The Alan Parson's Project - Breakdown My song pick 9 years ago today: Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive My song pick 10 years ago today: Earth, Wind & Fire - Lets Groove My song pick 11 years ago today: Sta...

3079. Motörhead - Ace of Spades

Image
From: Ace of Spades ; Year: 1980; Genre: Metal/Hard Rock As probably most people already know, Lemmy, (Ian Kilmister), passed away earlier this week from a bout of cancer. I figured I should pick an appropriate song; when I discovered that I hadn't yet picked this song, which is one of their most famous, I knew I had my song for today. Rest in Peace. Hear Ace of Spades on YouTube. My song pick one year ago today: Yes - Looking Around My song pick two years ago today: Alestorm - Over the Seas My song pick three years ago today: Paul Simon - Mother and Child Reunion My song pick four years ago today: Maurice Ravel - M.81 - Boléro My song pick five years ago today: Megaherz - Schizophren My song pick six years ago today: Genesis - Turn It On Again My song pick seven years ago today: Miles Davis - Walkin' My song pick eight years ago today: Jethro Tull - Cold Wind To Valhalla

3005. Motörhead - Motorhead

Image
From: Motörhead ; Year: 1977; Genre: Metal This morning I had some Motörhead on my mind so I'm choosing one of their songs for my pick today. Of course this is the eponymous single from the album of the band's namesake and debut. Originally Motorhead was recorded with Hawkwind whilst Lemmy was in the band and was also the song's author. While still very similar to the Hawkwind version this one's a bit edgier and in my opinion the sound mix was a wee bit too dirty, but still a good version. It's very much fun to hear the early material from bands that would go on to become legends like this one. Hear Motorhead on YouTube. My song pick one year ago today: Leon Mitchison and the Eastex Freeway Band - Street Scene My song pick two years ago today: Neil Young & Crazy Horse - My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue) My song pick three years ago today: Jane's Addiction - Been Caught Stealing My song pick four years ago today: Rush - Leave That Thing Al...

2763 Motörhead - Overkill

Image
From: Overkill ; Year: 1979; Genre: Metal/Hard Rock Earlier this morning I was listening to some Motörhead come on the radio and it got me in the mood to pick one of their songs. Now, I thought for absolute sure that I had already picked a song from Motörhead, but it appear so. I'm going to have to do some deeper to find out more; I'm that sure. Anyway, this is a great hard rock/metal crossover track and one that's pretty influential on later metal musicians and bands. Hear Overkill on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: The Guess Who - 6 A.M. or Nearer My song pick two years ago today: "Weird Al" Yankovic - Eat It My song pick three years ago today: Queensrÿche - Jet City Woman My song pick four years ago today: Frank Zappa - Mudd Club My song pick five years ago today: U2 - I Will Follow My song pick six years ago today: The Delgados - Keep On Breathing My song pick seven years ago today: Yoko Kanno (The Seat Belts) - Tank!

680 ( Hawkwind - Motorhead )

Image
I have been wanting to add this one to my list for some time and now seems as good time as any. Warrior on the Edge of Time was the last studio album that Lemmy Kilmister was on with Hawkwind. Lemmy eventually used the title of this song for the name of his band: Motörhead; the song, (which can be found here on YouTube), was also recorded and made famous by Motörhead as well. A good straight-ahead rocker with just a tinge of Space Rock; excellent for the start of the week. Here is a studio recording of the song by Hawkwind on YouTube. +
