3990. Wild Turkey - A Universal Man

Image
From: Turkey ; Year: 1972; Genre: Hard Rock/Progressive Rock Over the past week the band Wild Turkey has been popping up off and on on my phone's playlist, so I figured I should take the hint and pick another one from the band. This one's got that great early 70's heavy edge with a lot of musicianship and technicality to boot. Hear A Universal Man on YouTube. 3788. Wild Turkey - Eternal Mother - The Return

Image
From: Turkey ; Year: 1972; Genre: Progress Rock Happy Thanksgiving! Couldn't come up with an apropos pick, so I just thought I'd pick one from a band with an appropriate name instead. This is the longest track on the album, just coming in at under 8 minutes, making it I guess the "magnum opus" of the album. Hear Eternal Mother - The Return on YouTube. 3729. Wild Turkey - Butterfly

Image
From: Battle Hymn ; Year: 1971; Genre: Hard Rock Have been meaning on picking this song for the last little bit and finally gotten around to it. When I put Battle Hymn on I still cannot believe how criminal it was that the record, (or the band for that matter), never got the attention it deserved. Anyway, Butterfly is a perfect opening track for some album oriented rock; it hits fast and hard right out of the gate. Those twin guitars playing lead along with the bass make it a really strong track. Hear Butterfly on YouTube. 3441. Wild Turkey - Good Old Days

Image
From: Turkey ; Year: 1972; Genre: Hard Rock Had this one come one whilst coming home last night; it's one of the only singles from the band. To my ear it has a sound a wee bit like the band Small Faces, but not too close. I love the way this one flows and the feeling they put in it. Hear Good Old Days on YouTube. Image
From: Turkey ; Year: 1972; Genre: Rock/Hard Rock After hearing them yesterday while out and about I decided on picking another one of their songs. 2506 Wild Turkey - Dulwich Fox

Image
From: Battle Hymn ; Year: 1971; Genre: Folk Rock Last night I had a few songs from Wild Turkey running through my mind and I took it as a sign I should pick one of them. 2209 Wild Turkey - Battle Hymn

Image
From: Battle Hymn ; Year: 1971; Genre: Hard Rock I've been meaning to pick another song from Wild Turkey for a bit now; it seems like a good day to do so. This is the title-track off of their '71 debut album, and it's one of the best on the record as well in my opinion. Hear Battle Hymn on YouTube. 1265 Wild Turkey - Sentinel

Image
1265 Wild Turkey - Sentinel I was thinking about the band Wild Turkey this morning and I figured I should pick on of their songs today; yet another excellent band that I have neglected thus far. This track is a rather nice blend of Progressive and Hard Rock with maybe a tinge of Psychedelia thrown in for good measure; it comes off their debut album: Battle Hymn , which came out in 1971. Hear Sentinel on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: KISS - She My song pick two years ago today: Hawkwind - Assault and Battery/The Golden Void My song pick three years ago today: Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart +
