Image
From: The Return of the Space Cowboy ; Year: 1994; Genre: Acid Jazz/Funk/R&B Overall this is a great track all the way from the awesome bass line and drums to the keyboards and vocals; it's one of my favourite songs from this album. It's among those songs where it could probably be played to a wide audience with its broad appeal in sound, rhythm, and musicianship.   Hear Space Cowboy on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Hall & Oates - You Make My Dreams (Come True)   My song pick 2 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Something's on the Move   My song pick 3 years ago today: Queen - Don't Try So Hard My song pick 4 years ago today: Sky - Hotta My song pick 5 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Farm on the Freeway My song pick 6 years ago today: Quasar - The Loreli My song pick 7 years ago today: Def Leppard - Rock On My song pick 8 years ago today: The Cosmic Sound Orchestra - Fly Some Funk Up to the Moon My song pick 9 years ago tod...

2742 Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity

From: Traveling Without Moving ; Year: 1996; Genre: Acid Jazz/Funk I got in the mood for something from Jamiroquai last night and this morning and thought I would select another one of their songs for today's pick. This track was their major breakout in the U.S. market and has a very jazzy Motown feel to it; very much reminds me of Stevie Wonder's music at times. Hear Virtual Insanity on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Queensrÿche - Breaking the Silence My song pick two years ago today: Aerosmith - Jaded My song pick three years ago today: Blind Faith - Had to Cry Today My song pick four years ago today: Jethro Tull - By Kind Permission Of My song pick five years ago today: Peter Gabriel - Down To Earth My song pick six years ago today: Edgar Winter Group - Free Ride My song pick seven years ago today: Janis Joplin - Me and Bobby McGee

1614 Jamiroquai - Cosmic Girl

1614 Jamiroquai - Cosmic Girl From: Traveling Without Moving , Year: 1997 Genre: Funk/Disco/Acid Jazz I've known of the existence of Jamiroquai for a long while, but until recently have never taken the time to look up any of their songs. It's another case where I believe I've actually heard the band's music, but didn't know who performed it. I mostly learned about the band from seeing their lead singer, Jay Kay, all over different programs on the BBC. For those unfamiliar with the band, they are what is known as an Acid Jazz/Funk/Dance Hall band. I haven't picked a song from a band that is considered part of the Acid Jazz genre yet, so I figured I would snag the opportunity. Anyhow, Acid Jazz is one of the Jazz genres where it, just like with Jazz Fusion, gets the snub from 'Jazz purists' who don't look on it as an actual form of Jazz. To best describe it, it takes a lot of the ides and concepts found in Jazz, like the loping eighth note and the swin...
