William's Song a Day Blog - est. September 2007

From: Listen Like Thieves ; Year: 1987; Genre: Alternative Rock Was totally drawing a blank for today's song; so I just listened to wot was playing in my head at the time and went with it. This one oozes of the mid 1980s sound and is just a good all around track.   Hear Listen Like Thieves on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Diana Ross - Upside Down   My song pick 2 years ago today: Fleet Foxes - Fool's Errand   My song pick 3 years ago today: Megadeth - Post American World   My song pick 4 years ago today: John Mellencamp - Just Another Day   My song pick 5 years ago today: James Gang - Walk Away   My song pick 6 years ago today: Carmen - Looking Outside (My Window) My song pick 7 years ago today: The Guess Who - Cardboard Empire My song pick 8 years ago today: Jigsaw - I've Seen The Film, I've Read The Book My song pick 9 years ago today: Dio - Holy Diver My song pick 10 years ago today: Dazz Band - Joystick My son...

From: X ; Year: 1990; Genre: Alternative Rock Still out of town, but still getting today's pick in. I remember hearing this track a lot in the 1990s; it seemed to get a lot of air play. Both the highly danceable smooth rhythm and the harmonica solos are probably what helps to make it as memorable as it is. Hear Suicide Blonde on YouTube. From: Kick ; Year: 1988; Genre: Rock It is day 2 of my Australian music theme week and I thought I would pick one from INXS. While I've never been huge on the band, they have a few songs that I like quite a bit; this is one of their more popular songs to make it over here in The States. Hear Devil Inside on YouTube. This is one of those songs that I came to like the instant I first heard it. I like how they play with the dynamics in this song; the verses and the chorus almost seem like two separate songs at times. The vocals in this song are excellent as well as the main subject of the song about being so into someone that nothing else exists. Watch the music video on YouTube. +
