6566. Rammstein - Lügen

Image
From: Zeit ; Year: 2022; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte For some reason I just felt like listening to some Rammstein, which, for me has been a while. I mean, they come on my phone's playlist and I have chosen a few from them in recent years, but overall I haven't really had the urge. To be brutally honest, it is not an unknown reason as to why, and nothing about the band, it was a certain person who, thankfully, now is no longer in my life killed a lot of wot drove me to enjoy them. I know I shouldn't allow that to occur, but it's easier said than done. Anyway, was listening to their newest record today and found the sound I have always enjoyed, and with it being new to me it brought back that great feeling once again. This was one of the standouts on the record for me.   Hear Lügen on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Yes - Survival     My song pick 2 years ago today: The Fabulous Thunderbirds - Stand Back   My song pick 3 years ago t...

5914. Rammstein - Sehnsucht

Image
From: Sehnsucht ; Year: 1997; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte It feels as if I haven't listened to earlier Rammstein in quite a while; I could be wrong of course. Sehnsucht was the first album I ever heard from the band, I believe it was the song Engle if memory serves. Anyhoo, this is, obviously, the title track, which predated Rammstein. It was originally by one of guitarist Richard Kruspe's previous band Orgasm Death Gimmick, which didn't really did not see too much success, but fit quite nicely into Rammstein's repertoire.   Hear Sehnsucht on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Prepositions - (Do) Whatever Turns You On Pt.1 & 2   My song pick 2 years ago today: The Rolling Stones - Tumbling Dice   My song pick 3 years ago today: Blondie - The Hardest Part   My song pick 4 years ago today: Finntroll - Midvinterdraken My song pick 5 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Night in the Wilderness My song pick 6 years ago today: Rodrigo - Conci...

5853. Rammstein - Ohne Dich

Image
From: Reise, Reise ; Year: 2004; Genre: Symphonic Metal/Neue Deutsche Härte I'm often taken aback by this track every time I hear this album; the swelling, ebbing and overall soaring feeling Ohne Dich gives sends goose bumps and chills down your spine. I really love the bass notes that you feel as much as hear, which adds a great deal to the song. Of course Till's clear, lower-registered vocals and the lyrics make this one truly an emotional piece; one of my absolute favourites from the band.   Hear Ohne Dich on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Bobby Freeman - C'mon and Swim (Parts 1 + 2)   My song pick 2 years ago today: Martha and the Vandellas - Heat Wave   My song pick 3 years ago today: Funkadelic - Standing on the Verge of Getting It On   My song pick 4 years ago today: Carmen - Conclusion (She Changed) My song pick 5 years ago today: Fleetwood Mac - Bare Trees My song pick 6 years ago today: The Offspring - Days Go By My so...

5368. Till Lindemann - Ich Hasse Kinder

Image
From: Ich Hasse Kinder (single) ; Year: 2021; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte/Industrial Metal Been meaning to pick this more recent song from Till Lindemann's solo endeavour away from the band Rammstein for a while now and am finally getting around to it. Whilst not too dissimilar to the Rammstein sound, there are some differences musically, but not too much to turn off a fan of the band. Lyrically the song is about a man on a long flight having to deal with someone's disobedient child making the flight very unpleasant while the parent of said child ignores their unruly offspring.   Watch the music video on YouTube. Image
From: Untitled ; Year: 2019; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte I've had Rammstein on my brain today and thought I'd pick one. Image
From: Untitled ; Year: 2019; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte/Industrial Metal Was playing a bunch of Rammstein's music last night and it got me into listening to some of their music, especially off of their most recent album. 4363. Rammstein - Ausländer

Image
From: Untitled ; Year: 2019; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte It's been 10 years since their last studio album was released and eight years since the last new song was released, but now we finally got some new material and so far I'm liking it. I really like their direction musically; a lot more layers of their normal big sound plus the music is a bit more complex. Watch the music video to Ausländer on YouTube. 4301. Rammstein - Los

Image
From: Reise, Reise ; Year: 2004; Genre: Industrial Metal/Neue Deutsche Härte Rammstein has been coming on my playlist a lot lately; thought it was a sign to pick another one. Whilst not the among the best songs on the album in my opinion, it's still a good song, which will give you your Rammstein fix. Hear Los on YouTube. 4136. Rammstein, featuring Viktoria Fersh - Moskau

Image
From: Reise, Reise ; Year: 2004; Genre: Industrial Metal/Neue Deutsche Härte It's been a bit since I really have been heavily into Rammstein; I really don't know exactly why, maybe it's the lack of new material for nearly a decade, who knows. Moskau is an interesting song in many ways especially the tongue-in-cheek and flat-out risque and insulting lyrics. Hear Moskau on YouTube. 3812. Rammstein - Mehr

Image
From: Liebe Ist Für Alle Da ; Year: 2009; Genre: Industrial Metal/ Neue Deutsche Härte Had an urge to listen to this album again lately; thought I'd pick one of my favourites off the album. This song about avarice, Mehr (More), has a lot of that sweet hard melodic sound Rammstein and Till are known for. Hear Mehr on YouTube. 3785. Rammstein - Wo Bist Du

Image
From: Rosenrot ; Year: 2005; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte/Industrial Metal It's been a while since I've been heavily into Rammstein; I'm not sure why, but I'm just not as likely to listen to them. I think I overlistened to them, plus it's been quite a while since they've released any new material. I know it's very hard work putting on the show they do and a new album is supposedly in the works, but overall I think the band is winding down. I've never disliked Rammstein, just my love of their music waned a bit. I'm trying to get back into them somewhat, but I don't know if it'll ever be at the level it was before. Hear Wo Bist Du on Vimeo. Image
From: Reise, Reise ; Year: 2004; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte/Industrial Metal I haven't been listening to much Rammstein for a while now, but this morning I was in the mood for some of their music. Kind of surprised that I haven't picked this one yet; it's one of my favourites off of this album. Hear Stein um Stein on YouTube. 2667 Rammstein - Weiner Blut

Image
From: Liebe ist für alle da ; Year: 2009; Genre: Neue Deutche Härte I was listening to a some Rammstein last night whilst driving; since I don't think I've picked on from the band in a while I thought I would tonight. As with some of their other material they took inspiration from despicable acts that happened in the real world; this one is based off of the Josef Fritzl case . However, the music and the way it was arranged was incredible and sold it for me. Hear Weiner Blut on YouTube. 2454 Rammstein - Nebel

Image
From: Mutter ; Year: 2001; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte Mutter has been an album that I've been studying as of late; mostly coming up to my own renditions of the tracks. Anyway, in the past I have picked quite a few of my favourites from the album, so I'm now starting to pick ones from my 2nd tier. For a song called "Mist" or "Fog" it's actually quite an epic piece with a blend of both the heavy and light sounds. Hear Nebel on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Rush - The Necromancer My song pick two years ago today: Les Elgart - Bandstand Boogie My song pick three years ago today: Oomph! featuring Nina Hagen - Feiber My song pick four years ago today: The Guess Who - Minstrel Boy My song pick five years ago today: Metallica - Nothing Else Matters My song pick six years ago today: Steely Day - Rikki Don't Lose That Number

2302 Rammstein - Rosenrot

Image
From: Rosenrot ; Year: 2005; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte/Industrial Metal I've been wanting to pick another track from Rammstein for a while now and today I'm finally getting around to it. I was surprised to not see this one in my already picked section, since I've pick so many song from Rammstein already with this being one that I like a bit. I've heard people describe Rosenrot, (both the song and the album), as an unremarkable song on their most mediocre album, but I've always liked it. From what I understand this song itself was inspired by The Poem Heidenröslen by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and the Brothers Grimm fairytale Snow White and Rose Red . This song's music video is also one of the ones to portray Till Lindemann's character being kill, which is somewhat of a theme that happened in more than a couple of their videos; all of the times he was killed was later played on in their Haifisch music video. Watch the music video clip on YouTube. ...

2224 Rammstein - Feuer und Wasser

Image
From: Rosenrot : Year: 2005; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte/Metal I'm finishing my Six Years Later theme week with some Rammstein. This is one of my favourites off of their Rosenrot album, and I was actually surprised that I hadn't picked this song yet. This one falls into the category of their more melodic songs; even when the song gets heavier it retains its simplistic beauty. Hear Feuer und Wasser on YouTube. 2145 Rammstein - Vergiss Uns Nicht

Image
From: Mein Land (single); Year: 2011; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte For a while now I haven't picked a track from Rammstein; I guess I must have burnt myself out, however, today I happened to get in the mood to listen to them yet again. This is the b-side release to their most recent Mein Land single. In some aspects I like this one more than the a-side; it's another one of their more melodic songs. Hear Vergiss Uns Nicht on YouTube. 1997 Rammstein - Alter Mann

Image
From: Sehnsucht ; Year: 1997; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte This is my 1997th song picked and I am in the midst of picking songs that were released the year that coincides with my pick number. I hadn't picked a Rammstein track in a while and when I realized that they released their second album Sehnsucht in '97 I thought I would go ahead and pick one from it. Unsurprisingly I have already pick the majority of the tracks on this album and am now "scraping the barrel" so to speak. Not to say that this song is lesser than the ones off of it that I've already picked, it is just not one I like as much. Hear Alter Mann on YouTube. 1917 Rammstein - Rammlied

Image
From: Liebe Ist Für Alle Da ; Year: 2009; Genre: Neue Deutsche Härte Making another abbreviated pick; you can't go wrong with some Rammstein. 1822 Till Lindemann and Richard Kruspe (Rammstein) - Schtiel

Image
From: Schtiel (Single); Year: 2003; Genre: Metal/Neue Deutche Härte I felt like picking some Rammstein this morning; this somewhat rare track from Rammstein's Till Lindemann and Richard Krupse seemed to fit my mood the best. Shtil, as originally titled, is a cover of a song originally written and recorded by the Russian metal band Aria . Apparently Lindemann and Krupse recorded this cover in 2003 for a celebration in Moscow, Russia concerning the centennial anniversary for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Another interesting fact about this song is that Till Lindemann sung it in Russian. Hear Schtiel on YouTube.
