6684. Grand Funk Railroad - All You Got Is Money

Image
From: Survival ; Year: 1971; Genre: Blues Rock/Hard Rock I do not believe that I have chosen a song off of Grand Funk's Survival album yet; to-day is as good of a day as ever. 6403. Grand Funk Railroad - The Loco-Motion

Image
From: Shinin' On ; Year: 1974; Genre: Rock/Pop Had this catchy tune on the brain whilst working on my car last night; thought it would be a good choice. Originally recorded and became a huge hit by Little Eva , Grand Funk Railroad put it on this record out of a episode of spontaneity whilst messing around in the studio. Their hard-edged rock sound combined by their amazing harmonies made it soar to the top of the charts, which at the time was only the second song to hit #1 twice by two different artists.   Hear The Loco-Motion on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: The Steve Miller Band - Young Girl's Heart   My song pick 2 years ago today: Toto - 99   My song pick 3 years ago today: Lou Reed - Men of Good Fortune   My song pick 4 years ago today: Victor Wooten - Joe's Journey   My song pick 5 years ago today: Steeleye Span - Fighting for Strangers   My song pick 6 years ago today: Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet My song pic...

834 ( Grand Funk Railroad - Footstompin' Music ) I heard this one on the radio this morning whilst on the road and it seems like a very good song for today. This track is a straight-up feel good rocker that is mostly drum and bass driven; as with any Grand Funk song the overall musicianship is incredible across the board. Here is the studio version on YouTube. Here is a live performance on YouTube. Song 475-6 ( Grand Funk Railroad - I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home) )

Image
If I had to choose a top 100 or 200 songs, this song definitely would be on that list. This is my favourite offering from Grand Funk Railroad, which is saying quite a bit because I like a lot of their music. The bass is just beyond incredible, I love the complexity combined with the groove that Mel Schacher provides in this one. Here is the studio version on YouTube.
