3981. Jethro Tull - Audition

Image
From: Nightcap ; Year: 1993 (1973); Genre: Progressive Rock This unreleased song from the infamous album that wasn't came on my playlist whilst driving earlier. Audition is the middle section that was supposed to be the main suit on that album, but sits quite well by itself without the "bookend" songs. 3974/75. Stanley Clarke - Opening (Statement)/He Lives On (Story About the Last Journey of a Warrior)

Image
From: Modern Man ; Year: 1978; Genre: Jazz Fusion/R&B/Soul/Space Rock Was wanting to do a Funky Friday pick today featuring Stanley Clarke, but these two rather hard-to-pigeon-hole-in-a-genre songs by the master of songwriting and the bass guitar just needed to be added to my blog instead. Image
From: Woman in the Wings ; Year: 1978; Genre: Folk Rock/Progressive Rock Found out they finally uploaded this song to YouTube a couple months ago; I've been wanting to pick it for an age. 3969. Jethro Tull - Acres Wild

Image
From: Heavy Horses ; Year: 1978; Genre: Progressive Rock/Folk Rock Acres Wild in my opinion is one of the songs that captures the essence of the theme of this album the best: that of old ways giving way to new, modern ways. 3967. David Bowie - Five Years

Image
From: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars ; Year: 1972; Genre: Glam Rock In my opinion Five Years is a very odd song to open such an album with, but the whole "end of the world" theme really works. 3961. Jerry Reed - Take It Easy (In Your Mind)

Image
From: Smell The Flowers ; Year: 1972; Genre: Country/Pop I really wanted to pick a song from Jerry Reed and serendipitously discovered something I've searching for a while. In the comedy piece Convention '72 they sampled snippets of music to put together a fake and rather hilarious news cast. I had discovered all the songs sampled, but one: this one. I knew it was Jerry Reed, but couldn't find the song; one of the reasons for this is that it wasn't a main his, but a b-side. Whatever the case it feels great to have some completion to this rather trivial endeavour. Hear Take It Easy (In Your Mind) on YouTube.
