Image
From: Electric Jewels ; Year: 1973; Genre: Hard Rock Yet another band I've recently been meaning to revisit and am finally getting around to it. This is one of my favourites off of one of their earlier albums: Electric Jewels . From: Harder..... Faster ; Year: 1979; Genre: Rock After a little bit of thought I decided on this song from April Wine for today's song choice. Image
From: First Glance ; Year: 1978; Genre: Rock I randomly chose this song today for no other reason that I like it and the band and I have not chosen one from them in a while. The dynamics in how they go back and forth between soft and quiet to loud and hard is really done well and one of the main aspects I like the most.   Hear Comin' Right Down on Top of Me on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Midnight Oil - Now or Never Land   My song pick 2 years ago today: The Grass Roots - Where Were You When I Needed You My song pick 3 years ago today: The Moody Blues - Are You Sitting Comfortably? Image
From: The Nature of the Beast ; Year: 1981; Genre: Hard Rock/Space Rock The Nature of the Beast was the first album from April Wine that I owned and I played most of the songs quite a bit, so I like this one. Image
From: The Nature of the Beast ; Year: 1981; Genre: Hard Rock I remember when I first got this record in an unlabeled box among many others; this is one of the albums I immediately cabbaged on to. From: Harder..... Faster ; Year: 1979; Genre: Hard Rock It's yet another one of those picks where I had the song in my head and decided to choose it; so wot else is new. :P Anyway, I've always really like this straight up hard rock track with that driving bass and wailing guitars; definitely a good one to start off a busy workweek. 1667 April Wine - Future Tense From: The Nature of the Beast , Year: 1981 Genre: Hard Rock I had another song in mind for today, but after I saw the title of the song I picked last night it brought this April Wine's The Nature of the Beast album to mind. 1366 April Wine - Sign of the Gypsy Queen

Image
1366 April Wine - Sign of the Gypsy Queen From: The Nature of the Beast , Year: 1981 I'm embarking on another theme of sorts this week: I'm picking songs from bands that I have not chosen another song from since my first 100 picks. I guess that I will call this theme week: "...and about 1300 days later." Anyway, what has truly amazed me is not just the number of bands, but which bands I have neglected since the first 100; there are some that I really like that I've only picked one song from over 1300 days ago. I figured I would start this week off with another song from the Canadian Hard Rock band April Wine; the last song I picked from this great band was " Roller " on October 1st of '07; it was my 31st overall pick . There are quite a few songs from April Wine that like, so I had some trouble narrowing down my pick, but I finally settled on this cover of Lorence Hud's "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" off of their The Nature of the ...

Song 31 ( April Wine - Roller )

Image
Okay, for number 31, today I am choosing " Roller " by April Wine. This is off of their " First Glance " album; the album cover shown above is different from the one that I own. I believe that I have the American release, however I like this cover better. Anyway, this is another great late 70's rock anthem. Here is the studio version on YouTube. +
