6857. Billy Idol - Rebel Yell

Image
From: Rebel Yell ; Year: 1983; Genre: Hard Rock Earlier I had this one playing in my mind as if it was on the radio, so you know wot I am intending for today's pick. I don't know what it is about this song, but it's just one that makes you want to sing and dance along with it. And of course you have Steve Stevens showing off his severely underrated guitar mastery. Funny though, a long time ago I started changing his "More!" lyric into "Moe!," as in the leader of The Three Stooges . Even to this day I picture some woman in the throes ecstasy calling out for Moe Howard ; still laugh a little.   Hear Rebel Yell on YouTube.          My song pick 1 year ago today: Yes - Sweet Dreams     My song pick 2 years ago today: Bay City Rollers - Rock n' Roll Love Letter     My song pick 3 years ago today: Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You   My song pick 4 years ago today: Anita Ward - Ring My Bell   My song pick 5 years ago t...

6025. Billy Idol - Blue Christmas

Image
From: Happy Holidays ; Year: 2006; Genre: Christmas Music/Rock 'n Roll/R&B Was wanting to pick one from "The King of Sneer" today, however, as luck would have it, I discovered this neat seasonal loaded with many contemporary and a few older Christmas/Holiday songs that are must-listen-to tracks this time of year. Anyway, when I saw that he covered this Christmas carol by Elvis I immediately had to hear it; he did a bang-up performance on this one, definitely he'd be proud to hear his rendition.    Hear Blue Christmas on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Chris Squire and Alan White - Run With the Fox   My song pick 2 years ago today: Rush - Cold Fire   My song pick 3 years ago today: Molly Hatchet - Miss Saturday Night   My song pick 4 years ago today: The Who - Who Are You   My song pick 5 years ago today: Gentle Giant - His Last Voyage My song pick 6 years ago today: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - The Waiting ...

3651. Billy Idol - White Wedding

Image
From: Billy Idol ; Year: 1982; Genre: Rock/New Wave When sitting down to make this pick this song popped into my head and wouldn't leave. It's another instance where I was sure I had already picked it, but I guess not. White Wedding is one of the fun songs to play as a bassist; it certainly drives the song. Hear White Wedding on YouTube. My song pick one year ago today: Bruce Hornsby and the Range - The Valley Road My song pick two years ago today: The Rolling Stones - Get Off of My Cloud My song pick three years ago today: Rick James - She Blew My Mind (69 Times) My song pick four years ago today: Genesis - Squonk My song pick five years ago today: Bob Dylan - Hurricane My song pick six years ago today: Bad Company - Silver, Blue & Gold My song pick seven years ago today: Louis Armstrong - We Have All The Time In The World My song pick eight years ago today: The Yardbirds - Smokestack Lightning My song pick nine years ago today: Eric Clapt...

1571 Billy Idol - Flesh for Fantasy

1571 Billy Idol - Flesh for Fantasy From: Rebel Yell , Year: 1983 Genre: Hard Rock/New Wave A little bit ago I picked a song because the pick number happened to be the same as model number of my old Commodore 64 computer's 1541 disk drive. Anyway, since this pick number happens to be that of the model number of the drive that I later replaced it with , which was much better, I figured I would pick a song that was somewhat relevant, to me at least. I remember back when I bought my Commodore 128 that had the 1571 disk drive with it there were a bunch of disks that came with it as well. On one disk in particular there were three 15 second clips of digitized songs on it; this was one of those songs. After what seem like a couple of minutes of load time it would play the clip in a continuous loop; it was just part of the drum/guitar intro which played. While the music was only just a small snippet of garbled music, it was unique to hear actual music coming out of a computer that was bu...

691 ( Billy Idol - Eyes Without A Face )

Image
Last night I watched a live performance of Billy Idol on the television program Soundstage ; I noticed that I had not chosen any Billy Idol yet, so today I will. This one of their best song that they played amongst many others good ones. As excellent of a frontman Billy Idol is I almost forgot just how good his backing backing band is, especially Steve Stevens. This is true with most frontmen, no matter how good they are, they would be a shadow of themselves without the band behind them. Here is the music video on YouTube. +
