From: Nantucket Sleighride ; Year: 1971; Genre: Hard Rock While they are primarily known for the mega hit Mississippi Queen , Mountain had some other charting songs; this being one of them. It is not quite as striking or memorable as that one, it has a nice, straight-up hard blues rock feel and is one that would probably go over quite well in most instances.   Hear The Animal Trainer and the Toad on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: The (Detroit) Spinners - Sadie   My song pick 2 years ago today: Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders - Middle Child   My song pick 3 years ago today: Traffic - Feelin' Alright?   My song pick 4 years ago today: Bad Company - Ready for Love   My song pick 5 years ago today: Tesla - Not Fragile My song pick 6 years ago today: Jigsaw - Ready to Ride My song pick 7 years ago today: Billy Joel - Big Man on Mulberry Street My song pick 8 years ago today: INXS - Suicide Blonde My song pick 9 years...

From: Nantucket Sleighride ; Year: 1971; Genre: Hard Rock Had the band Mountain come to mind today; this track from their second studio album just seemed quite an appropriate choice. Tired Angels is another one of their songs that is kind of a proto-metal/hard rock riff based piece in the style they are mostly known for; at least early on. The "J.M.H." dedication in the title is for the then recently-departed musical legend Jimi Hendrix .   Hear Tired Angels (to J.M.H.) on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) - Ramble Tamble   My song pick 2 years ago today: 10cc - Art for Art's Sake   My song pick 3 years ago today: Brotherhood of Man - Save All Your Kisses For Me   My song pick 4 years ago today: Wolfmother - Enemy Is In Your Mind My song pick 5 years ago today: The Cure - More Than This My song pick 6 years ago today: Carmen - Dedicated to Lydia My song pick 7 years ago today: Emerson, Lake & ...

From: Climbing! ; Year: 1970; Genre: Hard Rock I had this great thumping hard rock/early metal track on my mind last night; I was kind of surprised that I had yet to pick it, so I am now. This one should be immediately recognizable to anyone hearing it with that cowbell intro and riff heavy guitar and bass. Hear Mississippi Queen on YouTube.
