6322. Toronto - Get It on Credit

Image
From: Get It on Credit ; Year: 1982; Genre: Rock/Pop This one kind of encapsulates the whole "buy now, pay later" epidemic that has been rife here in the U.S. and much of the western world since, and especially since the 1980s. Too bad we have not learned our lesson after 40+ years... not very sound advise.   Hear Get It on Credit on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Metallica - Tuesday's Gone   My song pick 2 years ago today: The Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody   My song pick 3 years ago today: Pallas - Midas Touch   My song pick 4 years ago today: Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever   My song pick 5 years ago today: Mr. Big - Fragile My song pick 6 years ago today: Bob Seger - Travelin' Man My song pick 7 years ago today: Uriah Heep - That's the Way That It Is My song pick 8 years ago today: Midnight Oil - No Man's Land My song pick 9 years ago today: Soundgarden - Like Suicide My song pick 10 years ago today: D Train ...

5440. Toronto - All I Need

Image
From: Girls Night Out ; Year: 1983; Genre: Hard Rock Things have been super-busy lately and I have not had a lot of time to think about which song to choose. However, I happened to have some of Toronto's music come on my phone the other day and I decided that I would choose another from the band. Whilst this one has a definite '80s hard rock sound to it, I think the dated sound really is a positive for the song in my opinion; the high energy especially gives an excellent danceable aspect to it.   Hear All I Need on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Queen - It's Late   My song pick 2 years ago today: The Alan Parsons Project - Don't Let It Show   My song pick 3 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Commons Brawl My song pick 4 years ago today: Maddy Prior - Catseyes My song pick 5 years ago today: Megadeth - Conquer or Die! Image
From: Lookin' for Trouble ; Year: 1980; Genre: Hard Rock Was thinking about this band, Toronto, when I was sitting down to make today's pick, so, as usual, I'm picking one from them. 4478. Toronto - Even the Score

Image
From: Lookin' for Trouble ; Year: 1980; Genre: Hard Rock Time for another one from Toronto; this song reminds me a lot of the band Heart in some ways, but at the same time it's definitely has its own sound as well. 4173. Toronto - What About Love

Image
From: Get It On Credit ; Year: 1982; Genre: Rock I've been meaning to pick another track from this band, but kept slipping my mind. Anyway, this is one that some people might not be aware of, but this is the song that was later recorded by the band Heart and became a huge hit. For some reason the band never released their original version for a couple of decades when it appeared as a bonus track on Get It On Credit remaster. I really don't want to get into "who did it better" or crap like that, but I will say they did a good job on their original version; Holly Woods really was able to belt it out. Hear What About Love on YouTube. My song pick 1 year ago today: Jethro Tull - Broadsword My song pick 2 years ago today: Carmen - Come Back My song pick 3 years ago today: Van Der Graaf Generator - Still Life My song pick 4 years ago today: Stryper - To Hell with the Devil My song pick 5 years ago today: The Rolling Stones - Start Me Up My song pick...

2547 Toronto - Enough is Enough

Image
From: Head On ; Year: 1981; Genre: Hard Rock I'm getting pick in from another band that I haven't picked one from yet. I like the sound of this album from the band in particular and then I happened to realize that Terry Brown produced it; so no wonder. To explain the sound of this song in particular would probably be best said as a mix between Heart, Jefferson Starship, and Triumph; it's a great track and definitely worth a listen. Hear Enough is Enough on YouTube.
