Hot Rod Race was, in fact, the song that Hot Rod Lincoln was an answer song to. This was arguably the first song to tap into the postwar hot rod craze in which teenagers would purchase old and essentially discarded prewar cars and modify them to go a lot faster with things such as bigger motors and newer technology.
