2159 Falco - Rock Me Amadeus

Image
From: Falco 3 ; Year: 1985; Genre: Neue Deutsche Welle Last night I had this song incessantly running through my mind without end; as I usually do I took it as a sign that I should pick it. This is one of those weird songs for me personally; part of me has always liked this song, and another part of me really doesn't; however I do like a lot of Falco's other material. I guess the reason I'm more of a mixed opinion about this one could be due the fact that it got played ad nauseam, at least here in the United States, while most of the rest of his music didn't make it across the pond. 983 ( Falco - Titanic )

983 ( Falco - Titanic ) I felt like something off the wall this morning; some of Falco's music popped into my mind and seemed absolutely perfect. There were actually about 8 songs of his I had in mind to choose, I narrowed it down to either " Titanic " or " Vienna Calling; " for no real reason I decided on this one. I love how he mixed so many different types of music in this one yet it makes one unified sound; it was very well arranged. Here is a recording of the song on YouTube. Song 219 (Falco--"Der Kommissar")

Image
I really do not know why I like this song, but I do; it is probably because I grew up hearing songs with a similar sound. Most people here in America know the After the Fire version of the song, however I like the Falco version slightly better because the lyrics flow more smoothly in their original German. Funny enough the name of the album which the song was released, Einzelhaft , is roughly translated as "solitary confinement," and Der Kommisar can be translated as "The Commissioner" or "Police Officer." He did not have many other hits here in the U.S.A., however other songs of his that became hits are " Rock me Amadeus " (probably his best known hit) and " Vienna Calling ."
