6190. Bonnie Tyler - Have You Ever Seen the Rain?

Image
From: Faster Than the Speed of Night ; Year: 1983; Genre: Hard Rock Man, this album has to be one of those that was part of the soundtrack of my earlier years. I remember hearing Bonnie Tyler's cover of this song probably about as much as the Creedence original; love them both by the way, just in different ways. I can tell ya, she really took a radically different approach with her larger-than-life-itself vocals and the harder driving rock sound led by Roy Bittan's piano playing along with Max Weinberg's drumming. Of course, Rick Derringer's guitar playing and solo are the cherry on top the cake so to speak.   Hear Have You Ever Seen the Rain? on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Savatage - Taunting Cobras   My song pick 2 years ago today: Gloryhammer - On the Wings of a Rainbow   My song pick 3 years ago today: Wishbone Ash - Drive   My song pick 4 years ago today: Queensrÿche - The Mission   My song pick 5 years ago today: C.W. 6178. Bonnie Tyler - Here She Comes

Image
From: Metropolis (Music from the Motion Picture) ; Year: 1984; Genre: Rock Had a case of having another song from a different artist on my mind than the one I intended for today's pick, so here it is, (or rather Here She Comes ....) [bad joke] This is one of the songs that accompanied the 1984 remaster by Giorgio Moroder of the Fritz Lang 1927 masterpiece epic Metropolis . Here She Comes was from the pen of Moroder and sung by Bonnie Tyler and served as part of the music track for the silent film.   Hear Here She Comes on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Kajagoogoo - Hang on Now   My song pick 2 years ago today: Link Wray - I Got To Ramble (Dedicated to the Memory of Duane Allman)   My song pick 3 years ago today: The Thermals - Back to the Sea   My song pick 4 years ago today: Little Richard - Long Tall Sally   My song pick 5 years ago today: Bruce Hornsby and the Range - Across the River My song pick 6 years ago today: Autog...

6002. Bonnie Tyler - Faster Than the Speed of Night

Image
From: Faster Than the Speed of Night ; Year: 1983; Genre: Rock/Hard Rock This is another record that from first song to last is indelibly burnt into my memory; such a classic. Faster Than the Speed of Night is one that has producer/author Jim Steinman's fingers all over it; Bonnie Tyler and the musicians brought in to record did such a bang-up job with it. She is one of a few that can pull off those rapid-fire vocals with her amazing vocal prowess; I really would have really loved to have heard her and Meat Loaf sing a duet, not just with this track, but with anything.   Hear Faster Than the Speed of Night on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Harlequin - Take This Heart   My song pick 2 years ago today: Lakeside - Money   My song pick 3 years ago today: Devo - Working in a Coal Mine   My song pick 4 years ago today: Mastodon - Steambreather   My song pick 5 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Sweet Dream My song pick 6 years ago...

Image
From: Faster Than The Speed Of Night ; Year: 1983; Genre: Rock I remember hearing this one and the entire album for that matter quite a bit growing up. 2736 Bonnie Tyler - It's a Jungle Out There

Image
From: Faster Than the Speed of Night ; Year: 1983; Genre: Hard Rock Early in the morning I had this song running through my mind, which is one of the deeper tracks I've always liked from Bonnie Tyler. While it's not looked on as even a minor single, in my opinion it one of her best songs she has recorded. I absolutely love the rhythm and of course the neat sound effects. Song 157 (Bonnie Tyler--"Total Eclipse of the Heart")

Last night this song came up on my iPod while we were on the road, and I decided to make it my pick for today. This is a very interesting song that would be at home in an opera or at least a Broadway performance; it has a very big sound to it. I love how the song builds and gets even larger and the song then goes into a organ solo and builds back again. Her voice is another strong aspect of the song, which makes it an excellent piece of music; I love the emotion that she puts behind her singing. Here is the music video on YouTube. Here is a Top of the Pops performance on YouTube. +
