6649. Icehouse - Love in Motion

Image
From: Love in Motion (single); Year: 1981; Genre: New Wave Having music from the band Icehouse on the brain thus far today and took it once again as a sign I needed to revisit the group. Whilst Icehouse had already been known by that name abroad, but, their first album, Icehouse , in their native Australia and related area the band was still named Flowers, so technically Love in Motion was Icehouse's debut single, at least at home. This song would, however, eventually be included on future releases of both the original Icehouse album and their second Primitive Man .     Hear Love in Motion on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: War - Seven Tin Soldiers     My song pick 2 years ago today: Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride   My song pick 3 years ago today: The Nightwatchman - Which Side Are You On?   My song pick 4 years ago today: Manfred Mann - Fox on the Run   My song pick 5 years ago today: Foreigner - Inside I...

6271. Icehouse - Uniform

Image
From: Primitive Man ; Year: 1982; Genre: New Wave If you grew up in the '80s the sound will immediately be recognizable and give a great sense of great nostalgia. Whilst the sound is very much that of the early to mid 1980s, Icehouse was not, in my opinion, following fads and trends, but rather they were among the bands plowing a path ahead for that sound. Uniform is one of the main songs from the album that exemplifies this.   Hear Uniform on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Steely Dan - Gaucho   My song pick 2 years ago today: Doc Oliver - Soul Popcorn   My song pick 3 years ago today: The Romantics - Talking In Your Sleep   My song pick 4 years ago today: The Kinks - Picture Book   My song pick 5 years ago today: Golden Earring - Radar Love My song pick 6 years ago today: Martha and the Vandellas - Nowhere to Run My song pick 7 years ago today: Blood, Sweat & Tears - Smiling Phases My song pick 8 years ago today: Rage ...

5751. Icehouse - Trojan Blue

From: Primitive Man ; Year: 1982; Genre: Synth-Pop/Rock Had the Australian band Icehouse on my mind today; haven't chosen a song from them in a long while. Primitive Man is most likely my favourite record from the band unless my mood goes somewhere unique; there's such a great sound across the board here. Trojan Blue is one that fits quite well with the overall sound of the album with it being is a similar vein to its vibe.   Hear Trojan Blue on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Miles Davis - Paraphernalia   My song pick 2 years ago today: Utopia - Set Me Free   My song pick 3 years ago today: Nick Gilder - Rated X   My song pick 4 years ago today: Rush - Second Nature My song pick 5 years ago today: Diana Ross & The Supremes - Someday We'll be Together My song pick 6 years ago today: Megadeth - Dread and the Fugitive Mind My song pick 7 years ago today: Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme Back My Bullets My song pick 8 years ago today: ...

2618 Icehouse - Icehouse

Image
From: Icehouse ; Year: 1981; Genre: New Wave For some reason I was in the mood for something new wave; the earlier material from the band Icehouse seemed to fit my mood pretty well, so that's what I went with. Anyway, as some probably know, this song which was also the namesake of the band's debut album wasn't originally supposed to be the name of the band. They were originally known a Flowers, but after signing their international contract a name change was forced due to another band with the name, so they took the name from the album and the song and the rest is history. This one's very much an early 1980's new wave track in every way; very a-typical of the time, but still good one unto itself. Hear Icehouse on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: ABBA - Dum Dum Diddle My song pick two years ago today: Gilbert and Sullivan - Major-General's Song My song pick three years ago today: Rush - Presto My song pick four years ago today: Nirvana...
