6612. Beat Crusaders - ~ Sasquatch ~

Image
From: P.O.A. ~ Pop on Arrival ~  ; Year: 2006; Genre: Surf Rock/Punk Rock Been trying really hard to pull myself out of a rut so to speak by going back to some bands that I really like, but for wotever reason I just don't choose much from.  At just over one-and-a-half minutes, ~ Sasquatch ~ is a super little number that is a neat blend of surf rock and punk, so, a lot of energy to be had in such a "transistor glamour." XD   Hear ~  Sasquatch  ~ on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Dick Dale - Take It Or Leave It     My song pick 2 years ago today: John Denver - Fire and Rain/The Box   My song pick 3 years ago today: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Testify   My song pick 4 years ago today: Nightwish - Harvest   My song pick 5 years ago today: Kool and the Gang - Funky Granny   My song pick 6 years ago today: Soundgarden - Blood on the Valley Floor   My song pick 7 years ago today: Ba...

5575. Beat Crusaders - Summerend

Image
From: Popdod ; Year: 2008; Genre: Indie Rock Decided to revisit the Beat Crusaders once more and check out some of the material from towards the end of the band. It was definitely nice to hear that their low-fi, almost indie sound did not fade; it's still sad that they broke up, but it makes us fans appreciate wot we have all the more.   Hear Summerend on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: The Alan Parsons Project - To One in Paradise   My song pick 2 years ago today: Sky - Gymnopedie No. 1   My song pick 3 years ago today: Lawrence Gowan - A Criminal Mind   My song pick 4 years ago today: R.E.O. 2798 Beat Crusaders - Slip Out

Image
From: Animation Beck Soundtrack ; Year: 2005; Genre: Alternative Rock Today I really didn't have a song in mind to pick; I could've forced a pick into today, but I didn't want to. So, I decided to let my iPod choose one for me and a Beat Crusaders' track was the response, and it actually fit my mood for some reason, so it's my pick. This was one that they recorded for the Beck: The Mongolian Chop Squad animé soundtrack and I'm unaware if it appeared on one of their proper albums. Anyway, this is among my favoured from the soundtrack; it's a real melodic and smooth track with a nice groove. Hear Slip Out on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Boston - The Launch/Cool the Engines My song pick two years ago today: Stratovarius - Dreamspace My song pick three years ago today: Queensrÿche - Promised Land My song pick four years ago today: Ed Bogas & Merl Saunders - The Riot My song pick five years ago today: J. 2095 Beat Crusaders - Moon on the Water

Image
From: Animation Beck Soundtrack ; Year: 2005; Genre: Rock Recently I've been watching Beck: The Mongolian Chop Squad again; this is among my favourite songs that can be heard throughout. It's actually quite a pretty tune with quite heavy and emotional lyrics. Hear Moon on the Water from the soundtrack on YouTube. Watch the music video clip to Moon on the Water on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses My song pick two years ago today: Rammstein - Haifisch My song pick three years ago today: Tanya Tucker - What's Your Mama's Name? My song pick four years ago today: Bad Company - Bad Company My song pick five years ago today: The Highwaymen - The Highwayman

1764 Typhoon24 feat. Tatsuzo of YKZ - Spice of Life

Image
From: KEITH: Animation Beck Original Soundtrack ; Year: 2005; Genre: Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad has been one of the animés I've enjoyed the most in a while. For those unaware of it, it's a 'making of a band' animé about a fictitious band from its inception to making it big. One aspect of the show I really find interesting is how most of the band members' characters are based off of real-world musicians like Jimmy Page, Liam Gallagher, and Flea to name a few. They also pay tribute to many other musical acts throughout the show, mostly through the music being played. This song, Spice of Life , was done in the style of Rage Against the Machine and is somewhat similar to their song Bulls on Parade . Actually, from what I've read the lead singer character, Tsunemi Chiba , was loosely based on their lead singer Zach de la Rocha. Anyway, this track has ended up being one of my favourites from the show, mostly due to the kick arse bass line, which is actually no...

1734 Beat Crusaders - Japanese Girl

Image
From: P.O.A.: Pop on Arrival ; Year: 2005; Genre: Rock Ever since I discovered this band through their songs that were used on animé soundtracks I've been delving further into their catalogue; I've enjoying what I've found. They are one of those bands that's lighthearted and pure fun to listen to; I love their stripped down rock sound and, of course, the visual silliness in their performances and videos. Anyway, here's another one of my favs off of their '05 P.O.A. album. Here is the music video on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: "Weird Al" Yankovic - Amish Paradise My song pick two years ago today: The Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls My song pick three years ago today: Band of Horses - Our Swords My song pick four years ago today: Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok +

1709 Beat Crusaders - Hit in the USA

Image
From: P.O.A.: Pop on Arrival ; Year: 2005; Genre: Rock We were up later last night and had a very busy morning to boot, so I'm getting my pick in a wee bit little later. Anyway, last night we finished watching the Animé Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad , which was an excellent show. This rather upbeat track from the Japanese Rock band Beat Crusaders was used as the show's theme and I thought it would be a fun song for today's pick. Here is the music video on YouTube. Watch the full opening from the Animé on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: ABBA - Thank You for the Music My song pick two years ago today: Genesis - Home By The Sea My song pick three years ago today: Alannah Myles - Black Velvet My song pick four years ago today: Alice Cooper - Poison +
