5204. Brave Belt - Crazy Arms, Crazy Eyes

Image
From: Brave Belt ; Year: 1971; Genre: Rock I had some of the music from this band running through my head; this was one of the band's bigger hits in their native Canada. It reminds me a lot of the sound of The Guess Who, which is understandable since they were compose of two alumni from that band.   Hear Crazy Arms, Crazy Eyes on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Queen - Ming's Theme (In the Court of Ming the Merciless)   My song pick 2 years ago today: ABBA - Lay All Your Love On Me   My song pick 3 years ago today: Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song My song pick 4 years ago today: Pallas - Ratracing My song pick 5 years ago today: The Miracles - Love Machine My song pick 6 years ago today: Mary Hopkin - Those Were the Days My song pick 7 years ago today: Azteca - Red Onions My song pick 8 years ago today: Dream Theater - The Looking Glass My song pick 9 years ago today: Deep Purple - Hush My song pick 10 years ago today: Paris - Big Towne, 2061 My song p

5203. Toad The Wet Sprocket - Something's Always Wrong

Image
From: Dulcinea ; Year: 1994; Genre: Alternative Rock For some reason I had an incline to listen to some more earlier '90s music that I remember. This is one of the bands that got played a lot back in the day and I guess they're still making music, so that's excellent. This song in particular really takes me back; I miss this sound quite a bit, but I suppose that it's just that time in one's life when it happens.   Hear Something's Always Wrong on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Uriah Heep - Love or Nothing   My song pick 2 years ago today: Waylander - Twin Fires of Beltíne   My song pick 3 years ago today: Rush - Tai Shan My song pick 4 years ago today: Jaco Pastorius - Vampira My song pick 5 years ago today: Talking Heads - Psycho Killer My song pick 6 years ago today: Asia - Open Your Eyes My song pick 7 years ago today: Icehouse - Icehouse My song pick 8 years ago today: ABBA - Dum Dum Diddle My song pick 9 years ago today: Gilber

5202. Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Mideast Vacation

Image
From: Life ; Year: 1987; Genre: Rock I have never really listed much to this album prior to recent and I especially like the overall composition of these songs; you can tell a lot of thought went into making them. This is the opening track to the record and has a very 80s feel to it in the rhythm section and the inclusion of subject matter from the time period makes it slightly dated, but a lot of it still resonates today.   Hear Mideast Vacation on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy   My song pick 2 years ago today: Dream Theater - Falls Into the Light   My song pick 3 years ago today: Quarterflash - Night Shift My song pick 4 years ago today: Mastodon - Hearts Alive My song pick 5 years ago today: The (Detroit) Spinners - It's a Shame My song pick 6 years ago today: Neil Young - This Note's For You My song pick 7 years ago today: Dire Straits - Telegraph Road My song pick 8 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Cheap Day Return M

Image
From: Flex-able ; Year: 1984; Genre: Progressive Rock Been meaning to pick one from Steve Vai for a bit now and am finally getting around to it. 5199. Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

Image
From: What's Going On ; Year: 1971; Genre: Soul/R&B/Motown Certain songs seem to not have an expiration date and continually sound fresh and remain relevant many years after release; this is one such song. With the amazing musicianship and such a forward-thinking subject matter interweve to make an immortal piece of music that is as relevant today as it will be in the future.   Hear What's Going On on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Funkadelic - Some Fresh Delic   My song pick 2 years ago today: Badfinger - Name of the Game   My song pick 3 years ago today: Fleet Foxes - Mykonos My song pick 4 years ago today: Wild Turkey - Butterfly My song pick 5 years ago today: Waylander - Lámh Dearg My song pick 6 years ago today: Bob James - Main Theme From Star Trek: The Motion Picture My song pick 7 years ago today: Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song My song pick 8 years ago today: Buddy Holly & The Crickets- It's So Easy My song pick 9 years ago toda

5197. Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)

Image
From: Youthquake ; Year: 1984; Genre: New Wave/Synthpop This one takes me back somewhat; it's another one I remember hearing a lot, and still do to be honest. From wot I understand, this is one of those songs where the record company and the artists were locking horns. The company thought the song wasn't good but the band went ahead and recorded it anyway and it became a bit international hit.    Hear You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Raspberries - Tonight   My song pick 2 years ago today: Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) - Quick Change Artist   My song pick 3 years ago today: Spock's Beard - All on a Sunday My song pick 4 years ago today: Van Der Graaf Generator - White Hammer My song pick 5 years ago today: Bernard Wright - Master Rocker My song pick 6 years ago today: Max Roach - Mr. X My song pick 7 years ago today: Styx - Queen of Spades My song pick 8 years ago today: Rush - Nobody's Hero My song pick

5196. Ian Anderson - The Browning of the Green

Image
From: Homo Erraticus ; Year: 2014; Genre: Progressive Rock Revisited this album again yesterday and was one of those moments you start hearing things in it you had not heard before. 5195. Les Paul - Goofus

Image
From: Goofus/Sugar Sweet (single); Year: 1950; Genre: Pop This is Les Paul's rendition of the 1930s popular song played complete with many overdubs and sped-up guitar tracks that he's well-known for. It still amazes me just how much of a great musical inventor he was pioneering the recording techniques and such that have been basically used for over half a century; not to mention his legendary guitar playing mastery.   Hear Goofus on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Midnight Oil - Back on the Borderline   My song pick 2 years ago today: Quasar - Fire in the Sky   My song pick 3 years ago today: Curved Air - Elfin Boy My song pick 4 years ago today: Gloryhammer - Goblin King of the Darkstorm Galaxy My song pick 5 years ago today: Russkaja - Energia! 5194. The Charlie Daniels Band - Reflections

Image
From: Million Mile Reflections ; Year: 1979; Genre: Country/Rock As I've said before, I was born and grew up in the era where some of the country acts were incorporating elements of rock into their music; one of the biggest examples was Charlie Daniels. Whilst this song is more of a slow ballad it still shows off those rock elements. Interestingly enough, this song was written about a few musicians that passed away that were apparently a big influence on him: Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, and Ronnie Van Zant; actually the entire album from what I understand was dedicated to Ronnie Van Zant.   Hear Reflections on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot   My song pick 2 years ago today: Victor Wooten - Keep it Low   My song pick 3 years ago today: Klaatu - Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft My song pick 4 years ago today: Big Country - Fields of Fire (400 Miles) My song pick 5 years ago today: Icehouse - Walls My s

Image
From: Sweeney Todd ; Year: 1975; Genre: Glam Rock Was listening to this band again today; had their music stuck in my mind and thought I'd pick another one. Image

Image

5188. Rush - Hand Over Fist

Image
From: Presto ; Year: 1989; Genre: Progressive Rock Had this album on my mind today and I thought I would choose another song off of it. There's a lot of great music to be had on this record; I don't really know why it gets so much static from people. While not their best album by any measure it's better than a lot of other artists' best in my opinion. This is one of the tracks I've always liked off of it; I really love that bass line.   Hear Hand Over Fist on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Wild Turkey - Gentle Rain My song pick 2 years ago today: Eddie Money - Walk on Water My song pick 3 years ago today: Dayton Sidewinders - Go Ahead On My song pick 4 years ago today: Victor Wooten - I Saw God My song pick 5 years ago today: Melvins - A History of Bad Men My song pick 6 years ago today: Wild Turkey - Ballad of Chuck Stallion and the Mustangs My song pick 7 years ago today: Nick Gilder - Here Comes the Night My song pick 8 year

Image
From: Wild Mood Swings ; Year: 1996; Genre: Alternative Rock I happened to notice that it's Monday the 13th again, which I have an ongoing, (but heavily neglected), theme about.
