5734. Exile - Heart & Soul

Image
From: Heart & Soul ; Year: 1981; Genre: Rock/Pop After a mondo busy and tiring weekend I had some material from Exile come on the way home and thought I would revisit them. Most would probably remember the cover of this track from Huey Lewis & The News a couple years later, but it was also a minor hit for Exile as well just prior to their move into a more country/western sound musically. For this song and record, as with the Huey Lewis version, it is a blend of smooth rock and pop with some pretty good guitar playing throughout.   Hear Heart & Soul on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: U2 - 40 (How Long)   My song pick 2 years ago today: Phil Collins - I Don't Care Anymore   My song pick 3 years ago today: The Flying Burrito Brothers - Dark End of the Street   My song pick 4 years ago today: Talk Talk - Living In Another World My song pick 5 years ago today: The Kinks - In a Foreign Land My song pick 6 years ago today: Rare...

3173. Exile - Please Be There

From: Exile ; Year: 1973; Genre: Rock The other day I heard a song from Exile; I've only picked one other track from the band, so I figured it was a good time to do so. This track has somewhat of a dated sound, which is that of early '70s rock/power pop, but is still quite good and has aged pretty well. Hear Please Be There on YouTube. 1155 Exile - Kiss You All Over

Image
1155 Exile - Kiss You All Over With it being my birthday today I decided I should look up the song that was Billboard's number one hit on that day; dang, there was a lot of Disco at #1 that year! This song from the band Exile apparently held the spot for four weeks and was knocked off the top spot by Nick Gilder's Hot Child in the City , which can be found here on YouTube . Anyway, while I probably have heard this song played at some point, I actually never consciously heard this track before. It's fairly straight up Pop/Rock song with a Disco rhythm; i.e. late 70's mainstream. The Band, Exile, is from Richmond, Kentucky and have actually continued to record and perform up through the mid 90's when they broke up; they have apparently reformed since. Just to warn, this track does have a tendency to "earworm" quite easily. Watch the music video on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Rush - Show Don't Tell My song pick two years ago tod...
