4652. Of Monsters and Men - Alligator

Image
From: FEVER DREAM ; Year: 2019; Genre: Indie Rock I decided to give this album a listen recently and was surprised that thus far this is the only song I have heard that I like, which is kind of sad in my opinion. Most of the music on the disc is very modern pop oriented, but at least this song still has some of the sound from their previous albums that I really liked. Hear Alligator on YouTube. 4651. Steeleye Span - Fighting for Strangers

Image
From: Rocket Cottage ; Year: 1976; Genre: Folk Rock This is the band's take on the traditional song Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye with of course their own modifications and style. Basically the song consists of singing over the top of a drum beat, which actually ends up working pretty good. Hear Fighting for Strangers on YouTube. 4650. Klaatu - A Routine Day

Image
From: Sir Army Suit ; Year: 1978; Genre: Rock/Pop This is a very "Beatlesque" sounding track all the way around, but at the same time a lot of their own sound is present as well. This song is also known for the animated music video, which from wot I understand was to be part of an animated special that was to feature more animated music videos that would've been titled " Happy New Year Planet Earth " that never has been released. Watch the music video on YouTube. Image
From: Bad Company ; Year: 1974; Genre: Hard Rock I had this song come on this morning and it's been running through my mind ever since, so I thought I'd choose it for today's pick. 4643. Elton John - Jamaica Jerk-Off

Image
From: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road ; Year: 1973; Genre: Rock From what I understand this song was written in response to poor treatment of the band in a Jamaican recording studio, which they found the situation unworkable and instead recorded the album at the famed Château d'Hérouville. 4633. Faith No More - Epic

Image
From: The Real Thing ; Year: 1989; Genre: Rap Metal/Alternative Metal/Funk Metal It's hard to believe that it's been over 30 years since this song was released... it doesn't seem like it. It still has the same almost new feeling every time I play it. If I remember correctly Epic was one of the songs, (if not the song), that launched the whole rap metal genre that was so popular in the 1990s. Still, it's strange how diverse Faith No More is musically; they seem to be able to change genres at will almost and never stick with one either for very long. They are for sure a very talented band.
