1541 Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400

1541 Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400 From: Leichenschmaus , Year: 1999 Genre: Techno When I saw the number of today's pick, (1541), something in the back of my mind was telling me that there was something significant about it. It didn't take me very long to remember what it was: the model of the disk drive I used to use with my old Commodore 64 . While I have countless fond memories tied to that computer, I will say that I loathed that slow, error ridden piece of junk that would take over 5 minutes to load a game that was probably smaller in file size than this blog post, that is, if it would load it at all. I later upgraded to the newer models, (The 128 computer and 1571 disk drive), which were far better in my opinion. It's weird when people today complain if something takes more than 20 seconds to load, hell, I used to do my chores while games booted up. Although it was quite frustrating coming back only to see the 1541's red light flashing along with an error message...

1219 Daft Punk - End of Line

1219 Daft Punk - End of Line Over the weekend I saw the new film Tron: Legacy at the theatre. I will say in my opinion it was an excellent film, but I am a certified Sci-Fi nut, so maybe my opinion is a bit biased. I really liked how they kept the film in-line with the original, but you didn't have to see the original to get the story, however it would probably help. I love how they kept a lot of the '80s Sci-Fi atmosphere; Daft Punk's soundtrack helped facilitate this quite a bit; this track is one of my favourites from the film. *Possible Spoiler* When watching the scene which took place in Castor's night club I noticed the two DJs seemed very familiar and I immediately recognized that the two members of Daft Punk: Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter where themselves cast in the film. I absolutely loved the way they kept changing the music to match the fight that was going on in the club. Hear End of Line on YouTube. Hear an alternate, longer version o...

1039 PAIN featuring Anette Olzon - Follow Me

Image
1039 PAIN featuring Anette Olzon - Follow Me I felt like picking something a bit different today. I discovered this Swedish Metal act a while ago; they have an interesting sound. To describe it, it is Metal with some definite Electronic influences. On this song Anette Olzon, from Nightwish, shares lead vocals with Peter Tägtgren. Here is the music video on YouTube. Here is a version of the song sans Anette Olzon on YouTube. Here is a live performance on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Nightwish - Phantom of the Opera My song pick two years ago today: Rush - Natural Science +

Song 132 (Two-Mix--"White Reflection")

Image
I was thinking about this song today and chose to pick it. Two-Mix is a Japanese Technoesque Electronic Pop band comprised of two members at the time of this recording; they have since added a third member and re-named the band: II Mix Delta. The band features Minami Takayama, who is the singer/composer, and Shiina Nagano, who is the musician/lyricist; they are now joined by Joe Rinoie on vocals. For those who watch Animé, this band's music has been featured on Animés such as Gundam Wing and Detective Conan . The music in the song is incredible as well as the vocals. While they are not a cup of tea to everyone, they are definitely worth a listen. Watch the music video on YouTube. +
