From: The Seeds of Love ; Year: 1989; Genre: Rock/Jazz Rock Trying to stick with something lighter today; although with much of Tears for Fears music there is a lot of seriousness both lyrically and musically, so I'm just going to be superficial with this pick. From: Elemental ; Year: 1993; Genre: New Wave/Alternative Rock Elemental has easily been my personal favourite album from Tears for Fears since I first heard it. There is something about the production and mixing that makes every note and beat easily heard and yet makes a full, aural symphonic sound all together. From: Songs From the Big Chair ; Year: 1985; Genre: New Wave Among the quintessential 1980s soundtrack, when Head Over Heels is played it seems like a hole in time opens, metaphorically, and you are taken back to that time. From: Songs From The Big Chair ; Year: 1985; Genre: New Wave/Rock I'm getting back in the mood for some '80s music again; Tears for Fears is another one from that period of rock/pop that I like. I was a bit surprised that I hadn't picked this song yet, being that it's essentially the signature song of the band, but it does get its fair share of overplay. More or less being a child of the 1980s, the synth sound doesn't turn me off too much, especially with how this band normally blended it with "normal" rock sounds. Hear Shout on YouTube. 1087 Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World I thought for sure that I had added this track to my list ages ago; I guess I was mistaken. I clearly remember the first time I heard this track, it was played at the end of the film Real Genius ; ever since then I've liked it. I have always liked that movie as well and have watched it quite a bit over the years. Anyway, here is a fun piece of '80s pop to listen to and perhaps get some gooey sentimentality over. 970 ( Tears For Fears - Break It Down Again ) More than a few years ago I ran into this track on an AMV (Anime' music video) and immediately liked it. A new song usually has to grow on me after a couple of listens before I really like it; though I really like Tears For Fears' music, so it was not like it was a completely new experience. I had no song ready to pick, so again I spun my playlist and found this song and decided it would be an excellent choice. I actually disliked this song when it first came out, however over time I have come to find the finer points of the song that make it a gem to listen to. Here is the studio version on YouTube. A few years ago I started to revisit songs from the '80s that I heard when I was younger; Tears for Fears was one of the bands that I came to like from this revisiting of the pop music. More recently I heard a cover of the song that was okay but lacked the soul and the feeling of a call to action of the original Tears for Fears version; it is a very depressing. I came across this song a while ago whilst doing some research on the band and immediately liked it. Funny enough when I got into heavily watching the BBC I noticed this song playing a lot in the background on commercials and programs. Probably the vocals and lyrics are my favorite aspects of this song; I love the way that they show feeling of hopelessness in the " Mad World " and the call to action against it.
