From: Darkness In A Different Light ; Year: 2013; Genre: Progressive Metal Before I get to talking about today's pick I have something to say: something happened to my blog yesterday and I'm not sure what, but all my photos were gone and my site was marked as unsafe for some reason. With some work I was able to fix everything, so at least things are back to normal, but I want to apologize if what happened caused any issues for anybody.   Anyway, on to my pick: this one from Fates Warning has a great heavy sound and very listenable even to those who might dislike the metal and associated genres.   Hear Firefly on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Jigsaw - Journey Into Space   My song pick 2 years ago today: Kiss - Heaven's on Fire My song pick 3 years ago today: The Supremes - Stop! From: FWX ; Year: 2004; Genre: Progressive Metal Picking one from the old queue this morning; this is kind of a more straight-up rocker from the band, but is filled with all the technical goodness you'd expect from the band. From: Inside Out ; Year: 1994; Genre: Progressive Metal I felt like something just outside of my normal absolute favourite bands, but still within my tastes; So Fates Warning was one of the obvious ones to go for. This one was a single from their mid 1990s album that has been considered somewhat more commercial and didn't do too well either. However, I like a lot of the music to be heard, including this one. From: Inside Out ; Year: 1994; Genre: Progressive Metal I'm getting my pick in on this busy July 4th (Independence Day). I happened to notice that I hadn't picked a track from Fates Warning yet; I thought for sure that at some point in the past I had picked one of their songs, which is odd with how much I adore most music that is of the progressive nature. Anyway, this is one of my favourites I've heard from the band. Everyone have a safe 4th of July out there. Hear Monument on YouTube. Here is the music video on YouTube.
