6537. Focus - Why Dream?

Image
From: In and Out of Focus ; Year: 1970; Genre: Progressive Rock Thought that I would check out Focus' debut album, which was titled Focus Plays Focus in their native country. I really like their other material, so reckoned I'd like this as well. It is so neat hearing already well accomplished musicians at such a young age.    Hear Why Dream? on YouTube. From: Focus 11 ; Year: 2018; Genre: Progressive Rock/Jazz Fusion Earlier today whilst playing a racing video game I had my music on shuffle and had Focus' seminal hit Hocus Pocus , which is the song they are most known for here in The 'States, come on and was perfect for the occasion of speeding around a race track. Anyway, it got me in the mood to hear some more from the classic rock band out of The Netherlands, so I decided to check out their most recent offerings and, of course, I immediately went to the longest track on the album, which happened to also be the record's title-track. I really like this instrumental, which oozes an excellent type of jazz fusion mixed with rock.   Hear Focus 11 on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Fleet Foxes - Can I Believe You   My song pick 2 years ago today: Pearl Jam - Retrograde   My song pick 3 years ago today: King Crimson - Epitaph My song pick 4 years ago today: Heart - Bad Animals My song pick 5...

Song 283 (Focus--"Hocus Pocus")

Image
I have noted as of late that I have been picking songs that I have not heard in a while and all of a sudden it either pops into my head or I hear it on the radio; this pick is no different. Recently, I heard this song on the radio and I knew that it needed to be added to my list. It is very much a '70s Progressive Rock song that is mostly known for showcasing the vocal talent and the yodeling by the lead singer Thijs Van Leer. Here is the studio version on YouTube. Here is a live performance of the song on YouTube. +
