Image
From: Elysium ; Year: 2011; Genre: Progressive Metal This is this first song with lyrics that I have posted in a bit; maybe I should've kept it going, but I really felt like picking this one. It's also kind of neat to think that with this pick I bring my fifth year of running this blog a close; tomorrow will mark my song a day blog's sixth anniversary. Anyway, this is one of my favourite songs off of this album; not only do I like the overall uplifting/conquering feeling this track gives you, but I absolutely love how they brought the bass way up in the mix; it just sounds awesome! 1994 Stratovarius - Chasing Shadows

Image
From: Dreamspace ; Year: 1994; Genre: Power Metal/Progressive Metal This is my 1994th song pick, and I am still choosing songs that were released the year that coincides with my song pick number. Anyway, yesterday I was listening to some of Stratovarius' music whist on the road; their soaring sound seemed perfect for my mood and the occasion. So this morning I decided to see what they released in 1994, (today's pick number), I discovered that their album Dreamspace , which by coincidence is actually one of my favourites from the band as well was released that year. That made my pick today pretty easy; this is the first song on the album and a pretty good one I might add. Hear Chasing Shadows on YouTube. 1644 Stratovarius - Wings of Tomorrow

Image
1644 Stratovarius - Wings of Tomorrow From: Dreamspace , Year: 1994 Genre: Power Metal/Progressive Metal Coincidentally today's pick number, 1644, is also the birth year of the famous master luthier Antonio Stradivari, who is probably better known by the Latinized version of his name: Stradivarius, which is also how people refer to the instruments he created. I was going to choose a violin piece for today, but I happened to remember this aptly named Finnish Metal band that derived their name from the master instrument maker; I thought this song from the band would make an excellent pick for today anyway. They are yet another band that I thought for sure I had picked at some time, but hadn't. Here is the studio version on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Earth, Wind & Fire - Serpentine Fire My song pick two years ago today: Manuel de Falla - Danza Del Terror ( Dance of Terror ) My song pick three years ago today: Dire Straits - Lady Writer My song pick four years ag...
