5810. The Eagles - New Kid in Town

Image
From: Hotel California ; Year: 1976; Genre: Country Rock/Soft Rock I used to listen to this band a lot back in the day, I do not really know why I haven't really felt the compulsion to put their music on, just not been in the mood for it I guess or I just got tired of it, who knows? Anyway, New Kid in Town used to be one of those "guilty pleasures" for myself that I'd enjoy kicking back and relaxing to with headphones on. I really believe that at this point The Eagles were at their peak creatively and it shows; sure, there are excellent classic track recorded prior and after, but the songs written around Hotel California in my opinion were some of the best they ever recorded.   Hear New Kid in Town on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: The Rolling Stones - It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)   My song pick 2 years ago today: Positive Force - We Got The Funk   My song pick 3 years ago today: Everclear - Santa Monica   My song pick 4 ye...

5223. The Eagles - The Disco Strangler

Image
From: The Long Run ; Year: 1979; Genre: Rock Here's another one that I had not heard in quite some time that just popped into my mind for no reason whatsoever. From what I understand it was one of those many songs at the time that was written in the backlash of the disco movement; the band apparently did not like the genre. Despite this they use a pretty good disco-inspired beat and bass as a foundation to the song.   Hear The Disco Strangler on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Ian Anderson - Meliora Sequamur   My song pick 2 years ago today: The Delgados - Strathcona Slung   My song pick 3 years ago today: Genesis - Misunderstanding My song pick 4 years ago today: Pallas - The Blinding Darkness of Science My song pick 5 years ago today: Aerosmith - Remember (Walking in the Sand) My song pick 6 years ago today: AC/DC - Money Talks My song pick 7 years ago today: The Doors - People are Strange My song pick 8 years ago today: Django...

3099. Glenn Frey - Smuggler's Blues

Image
From: The Allnighter ; Year: 1984; Genre: Rock/Blues Rock I learned yesterday of Eagles' guitarists Glenn Frey's passing ; as I've been doing too much lately I thought I should pick one of his songs. This is one of his bigger hits from his solo work away from The Eagles and was used as not only part of the Miami Vice soundtrack, but also inspired an episode based on it with the same title. Also Mr. Frey made an appearance in that episode apparently. Hear Smuggler's Blues on YouTube. 810 ( The Eagles - Outlaw Man )

Image
810 ( The Eagles - Outlaw Man ) I have been intending to choose this classic Eagles song for about a month now, I'm finally getting around to it today. This is more of a rocker than much of their other material at the time and there are so many excellent hooks in this song, especially in the chorus. Quite a nice song to start off a busy Monday and week. Here is the studio version on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: #438 Def Leppard - Lets Get Rocked My song pick two years ago today: #70 Alabama - Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler) +

Song 555 ( The Eagles - Get Over It )
