Anyway, just in case it decides to go kaput again I'm making a quick pick. I checked what was going on in music circa 1908, which is today's song pick number, and noticed this awesome piece of music from Rachmaninoff made it's debut in 1908. I also realized that I hadn't yet chosen one of his songs yet, so it seemed like an excellent time to do so. This one, of course, was published at the height of the popularity of ragtime in the year 1902, which is also the pick number today. What has led to this song's popularity in more recent times was its use in the Paul Newman and Robert Redford film The Sting ; subsequently it has been used quite a bit in popular culture. So, when I noticed that this, his fourth symphony premiered in 1901, which is also today's song pick number, I figured it would be an excellent choice.
