5035. Bruce Hornsby & The Range - Look Out Any Window

Image
From: Scenes from the Southside ; Year: 1988; Genre: Rock I do not believe that I've chosen one from Bruce Hornsby in a bit, and today feels like an excellent time for some of his music. I have always liked the clear and clean sound from his records of this period and that piano's tone is unmistakable the instant you hear it.   Hear Look Out Any Window on YouTube.         My song pick 1 year ago today: Marillion - This Strange Engine   My song pick 2 years ago today: 10cc - Good Morning Judge My song pick 3 years ago today: The Moody Blues - I Know You're Out There Somewhere My song pick 4 years ago today: Fletcher Henderson and Louis Armstrong - Money Blues My song pick 5 years ago today: Weather Report - Palladíum My song pick 6 years ago today: Percy Sledge - When a Man Loves a Woman My song pick 7 years ago today: Peter Gabriel - Steam My song pick 8 years ago today: Phil Collins - Something Happened on the Way to Heaven My song pick 9 ...

3276. Bruce Hornsby and the Range - The Valley Road

Image
From: Scenes from the Southside ; Year: 1988; Genre: Rock Was wanting to pick another from Bruce Hornsby today for some reason, so I am. This is an easily digestible song for most casual listeners, but there's also a lot of great and complex music to hear as well, which is nice. My main criticism of this song, which would have, in my opinion, made it much better is that it was mixed thin and flat; especially in the rhythm section. Despite that though it still makes pretty decent track. Hear The Valley Road on YouTube. Song 377 ( Bruce Hornsby and the Range - The Way It Is )

Image
I had another song ready to pick, however with some disturbing news this morning the other song just did not fit my current mood; it seemed more fitting to the way I feel at the moment. I have always loved this song, especially the work on the piano; he really does show off a lot of virtuosity in this one. Another aspect that I like about this one is that for the most part the song uses traditional sounds, however they blend the synthesizer and other newer sounds quite well.
