4108. Tarja Turunen - Undertaker

Image
From: The Shadow Self ; Year: 2016; Genre: Symphonic Metal Had some of Tarja Turunen's solo music on my mind today; decided to check out some of her more recent material. I have to say, it's not bad at all, still the same operatic metal sound I like a lot. Hear Undertaker on YouTube. 941 ( Tarja Turunen - I Walk Alone )

941 ( Tarja Turunen - I Walk Alone ) Been meaning to add this one off of Tarja Turunen's second solo album to my list for some time now. It has a nice blend of Symphonic Metal and Classical, of course Tarja's vocals is far and gone the main draw for me. While I love her singing it does not sound right without the Nightwish sound backing her when I listen to her solo material. Don't get me wrong, her solo material is good, but I guess I am too used that amazing sound they made together. Here is the music video on YouTube. Here is a television performance on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Link Wray - Rumble My song pick two years ago today: The Carter Family - Wildwood Flower +

Song 557 ( Tarja Turunen - Enough )

This is a leftover from my attitude song picks that I felt like picking today. For those who are unaware, Tarja Turunen was the former lead vocalist for the band Nightwish. I was introduced to both Tarja Turunen and Nightwish; I became a fan after the time of the breakup, so I really don't care much about the breakup and rather just enjoyed the music. The breakup between her and Nightwish was quite confrontational and emotional; there is still a lot of resentment even among fans who taken sides as well. Because of this both sides had gotten into a poison pen "songwriting contest" of sorts and used their art as a weapon; this song is one of those barbs. As a CD buying fan with an objective position it seems quite childish, but we fans do reap the rewards of some good self-justifying mood music. Here is the studio version on YouTube.
