From: Rio ; Year: 1982; Genre: New Wave/Synth-Pop Duran Duran just happened to pop into my mind when thinking about my song choice today. From: Duran Duran (The Wedding Album) ; Year: 1993; Genre: New Wave/Alternative Rock Not really wanting that much to think about music today, but when music is always playing in my brain it kind of makes it impossible. Anyway, I had some songs from this album playing in my mind and I settled on this one, which was I believe a single off of it; it's got the band's early 1990s sound to it in spades.    Hear Too Much Information on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire   My song pick 2 years ago today: Sly and the Family Stone - Sex Machine My song pick 3 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Crossword My song pick 4 years ago today: Blood, Sweat & Tears - You've Made Me So Very Happy My song pick 5 years ago today: Mike + The Mechanics - Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground) My song pick 6 years ago today: Santo & Johnny - Summertime My song pick 7 years ago today: Zager and Evans - In the Year 2525 (E...

From: A View to a Kill (soundtrack) ; Year: 1985; Genre: New Wave I always loved the late '70s and '80s James Bond films with Roger Moore; A View to a Kill has always been amongst my favourites. Anyway, this is, of course, Duran Duran's contribution for the film's title song; even without the connection to the classic movie the song stands right along side their better material in my opinion. From: Rio ; Year: 1982; Genre: New Wave/Synthpop I have no reason why I'm picking this song; I like it and apparently I haven't picked it yet, so that's reason enough I guess. From: Rio ; Year: 1982; Genre: New Wave/Synthpop This morning whilst running some errands I had a song from this album pop on the radio; it really got me in the mood for to make a song pick from it. From: Duran Duran (Re-Release Issue); Year: 1983; Genre: New Wave The other day I had this song come on my iPod, and it's been running through my mind off and on ever since, so I thought it was a sign I should pick it. Another great early 1980s hit from Duran Duran; there's a lot of excellent music and different contrasting sections. Hear Is There Something I Should Know on YouTube. From: Seven and the Ragged Tiger ; Year: 1983; Genre: Pop/Rock/New Wave I'm kind of homering out by picking a song from a band I really like. While this is one of Duran Duran's more popular songs, it's not one of my personal favourites, but I still like to listen to The Reflex every now and then. Hear The Reflex on YouTube. From: Rio ; Year: 1982; Genre: New Wave Earlier today I heard a lot of Duran Duran, including this track. I made a mental note that I should pick one of their songs; funny enough I was positive that I picked this track in particular sometime in the last few years. After noticing its absence from my blog there was no other song that I wanted to choose today, being that it is one of my favourite song from the band. Hear the full 5:14 "Night" version on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Argent - Music from the Spheres My song pick two years ago today: Heart - Who Will You Run To My song pick three years ago today: Benny Carter - All That Jazz My song pick four years ago today: David Bowie - Rebel Rebel My song pick five years ago today: U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday

1655 Duran Duran - (Reach Up for the) Sunrise From: Astronaut , Year: 2004 Genre: Rock/Pop/New Wave I hadn't listened to this Duran Duran album in a while and for some reason this morning I got into the mood to hear it again. It was the last album with all of the main band members present and if I remember right it was a pretty successful record. Anyway, this is the lead-off track and is also, I believe, the album's biggest hit. It has a sound and feel very reminiscent of their popular material from the '80s. Here is the music video on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: The Offspring - Gone Away My song pick two years ago today: Converge - Cruel Bloom My song pick three years ago today: Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids - She's So Fine My song pick four years ago today: Lobo - A Big Red Kite +

1295 Duran Duran - Lonely In Your Nightmare Another late Sunday pick again. Same story as usual an all: heard this song at some point during the day and decided to pick it. This track is a rather beautiful gem nestled amongst the many hits on this grand, epic, legendary, and monumental album. (I can't think of any other adjectives without opening my thesaurus at this time). Hear Lonely In Your Nightmare on YouTube. Watch the music video on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Jethro Tull - Dogs in the Midwinter My song pick two years ago today: John Denver - Season Suite: Late Winter, Early Spring (When Everybody Goes To Mexico) My song pick three years ago today: César Antonovich Cui - Orientale +

822 ( Duran Duran - Serious ) Another late pick on a Saturday, what else is new? I noticed that I have not chosen a Duran Duran song for a bit now and I decided on this one tonight after it came on my iPod's playlist. This is a nice piece of late '80s Pop/Rock with that signature smooth Duran Duran sound. Here is the music video on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Styx - Crystal Ball My song pick two years ago today: Rush - Tom Sawyer +

This is a cover of the Bob Dylan classic from their Thank You cover album. I have always liked the original quite a bit, but I also like how they covered this one; they did an excellent job. Here is the studio version on YouTube. Here is part of a live performance on YouTube. +

This song has been running through my mind a lot this morning. The song's title is reference to the late 60's film Barbarella ; Dr. Durand Durand was a character in that movie from which the band took their name. Here is a recording of the song on YouTube. Here is the music video on YouTube. Here is a live performance on YouTube. +

A late pick on a very busy day... what else is new? This was one of the songs played on the iPod today whilst on the road and I decided that it would be a good pick. Anyway, I have liked this song ever since I first heard it, mostly due to the cool bass line. Here is the music video on YouTube. Here is a live performance circa '81 on YouTube. +

I heard this song yesterday whilst on the road and I figured that it was time to add another Duran Duran song to my list. As with a lot of their music, John Taylor's bass is the driving force for this song, of course the saxophone solo is a nice touch as well. Here is the studio version on YouTube. Here is their " Top of the Pops " performance '82 on YouTube. Here is a live performance from '84 on YouTube. +
