Image
From: Fox on the Run (single) ; Year: 1968; Genre: Rock I was introduced to this, the original recording of the song yesterday; I'd heard other versions of this one prior. Image
From: Nightingales & Bombers ; Year: 1975; Genre: Hard Rock Very busy day, so for this pick I am being a bit abbreviated, but am still choosing one I like a lot. 3077. Manfred Mann's Earth Band - It's All Over Now, Baby Blue

Image
From: Glorified Magnified ; Year: 1972; Genre: Rock I was going through some old files on my computer concerning my Song a Day Blog, which I've been doing now for over 8 years, and found my old "queue" of potential picks that I used to turn to when I got stuck. I happened to find that one of the oldest ones on the list was a song from Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Anyway, after checking it out I discovered that, one of the bands I really like, Manfred Mann, hadn't graced my list in almost 2900 picks and the Earth Band even longer, so I definitely had to pick one. I love what they did with this song originally penned and recorded by Bob Dylan and covered many of times; it's got the original feel, but with a harder rock edge. Hear It's All Over Now, Baby Blue on YouTube. My song pick one year ago today: Brave Belt - Too Far Away My song pick two years ago today: Jethro Tull - Protect and Survive My song pick three years ago today: The Flying Bur...

Song 122 (Manfred Mann--"The Mighty Quinn (Quinn The Eskimo)")

Image
Well, today I decided to pick this rather fun song from Manfred Mann. It is a cover of the Bob Dylan song that was written in reference to Anthony Quinn's role in the movie The Savage Innocence ; it has also been covered by numerous others. I really like Manfred Mann's version of the song a lot and thought that this light-hearted song would be excellent for today. Here is the studio version on YouTube. Song 8 ( Mannfred Mann's Earth Band - Spirits In The Night )

Image
I have really no reason to choose this song today except that I like it. This song is a cover of a Bruce Springsteen song that chronicles the events of a crazy summer night of group of people. The music in this song is quite dynamic with a lot of pick ups an hooks in it. The musicianship is really good except that the guitar effect is the same one used on Blinded by the Light , which, in my opinion takes away from the song. Here is the studio version on YouTube.
