6296. Normaal - Acht Cilinder Blues

Image
From: Noar 't Café ; Year: 1987; Genre: Blues Rock Had them come on my playlist this morning, which immediately brightened up my mood. They are just one of those bands that has that ability; always find myself cranking the volume and poorly attempt to "sing" along in a language I can only slightly understand. Is not that the definition of having fun? No?   Hear Acht Cilinder Blues on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Thompson Twins - In the Name of Love   My song pick 2 years ago today: David Bowie - Fill Your Heart   My song pick 3 years ago today: Bob Rivers - Sled Zeppelin   My song pick 4 years ago today: Bob Rivers Comedy Corp. - The Restroom Door Said, "Gentlemen"   My song pick 5 years ago today: King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black   My song pick 6 years ago today: Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show - Sylvia's Mother My song pick 7 years ago today: John Denver - Goodbye Again My song pick 8 years ago today: John McCu...

6235. Normaal - Val Kapot

Image
From: Deurdoneren ; Year: 1982; Genre: Rock The other night whilst driving home I had some of Normaal's songs come on and I really love how their music thumped and bumped through the speakers, so I turned it up louder; the bass and drums were mixed exquisitely. Anyway, as always, picking another song from them today; not too sure about the lyrical content due to their odd Dutch dialect. I really need to learn that language, been running into it a lot and online translation is absolute garbage. All that being said, this is quite a fun one to rock out to and have a great time doing it.   Hear Val Kapot on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Brass Construction - Screwed (Conditions)   My song pick 2 years ago today: Procol Harum - Song for a Dreamer   My song pick 3 years ago today: Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Watching Over You   My song pick 4 years ago today: The Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down To Georgia   My song pick 5 y...

5997. Normaal - Oerend Hard

Image
From: Oerend Hard ; Year: 1977; Genre: Rock/Rockabilly/Rock 'N Roll There is just something about the Dutch band Normaal that puts a smile on my face every time I hear them, no matter the song or the fact I only very slightly understand what they're saying; I need to learn more languages.... Anyway, this was apparently one of their earlier hits, which is the title-track off of their debut studio album. In the mode of some of the more noted song from the '50s and '60s it is a song about a vehicle crash, in this case two motorcyclists who " Drive Hard " never knowing how to drive slowly and, of course, meeting an untimely end as a consequence. I absolutely love that rock 'n roll/rockabilly sound throughout this one along with the excellent vocal delivery that really sells it. Whilst the track in and of itself depicts tragedy, it and the entire band are just pure fun as always.   Hear Oerend Hard on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Sly and the ...
