5406. Skid Row - Riot Act

Image
From: Slave to the Grind ; Year: 1991; Genre: Metal/Hard Rock Finally, am back from an extended weekend out of town and am happy to be back at my own desk, computer, and chair whilst posting to my song-a-day blog. Anyway, I had this one from my early teenage years pop into my mind sometime over the weekend and thought the raw, unrestrained energy just fit my mood absolutely perfectly. The Slave to the Grind album is and always will be a classic to me, and this is probably the song that sits atop the heap for me personally.   Hear Riot Act on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Jethro Tull - Jack-A-Lynn   My song pick 2 years ago today: Madness - Our House   My song pick 3 years ago today: Chicago - Beginnings My song pick 4 years ago today: Frijid Pink - Rainbow Rider My song pick 5 years ago today: Savatage - Summer's Rain My song pick 6 years ago today: John Denver - Everyday My song pick 7 years ago today: Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker ...

From: Slave to the Grind ; Year: 1991; Genre: Metal I had Skid Row on my mind this morning, and since I haven't picked one of their songs in a while I figured it would be a good day to add another one of their songs to my blog. This album and song sure do bring back memories; definitely the sound has become dated, but not in a bad way. Hear Monkey Business on YouTube. 1371 Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild

1371 Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild From: Skid Row , Year 1989 It's day #6 of my "...And about 1300 days later" theme week of picking songs from artists that I have not chosen a song from since my first 100 song picks. I totally thought that I had picked this song about a year ago; it was probably one of those times where I meant to pick it, but for some reason another track got picked instead. Anyway, the last track from Skid Row I added to my list was 18 and Life , I picked it on the 18th of September, 2007; it was my 18th overall pick . Watch the music video on YouTube. Here is a live performance circa '91 on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: The Jimmy Castor Bunch - The Bertha Butt Boogie My song pick two years ago today: Steely Dan - Hey Nineteen My song pick three years ago today: Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Serenade To A Cuckoo +

Song 18 ( Skid Row - 18 And Life )

Image
For today I decided on choosing 18 and Life by Skid Row, I did this for two reasons: 1. I like the song a lot, and 2. today is song pick number 18. It is not quite as hard as most of Skid Row's music and could almost be considered a ballad. What is really excellent about this song is Sebastian Bach's vocals, he really shows them off in this one. Funny thing is that I can clearly remember when this song came out and all of the airplay it got; even now you can hear it on the radio from time to time. Here is the music video on YouTube.
