6668. Judas Priest - Eat Me Alive

From: Defenders of the Faith ; Year: 1984; Genre: Metal Next one on my "Satanic Moral Panic" theme is a track from those leather-clad blokes from Birmingham: Judas Priest. 6331. Judas Priest - Better Than You, Better Than Me

Image
From: Stained Class ; Year: 1978; Genre: Metal Was enjoying some Judas Priest last night whilst driving home, you can probably guess the rest. This track is a Spooky Tooth cover that became more infamous from people worrying about hidden messages in metal music than any aspect in and of itself. Ah yes, the whole "Satanic Panic," PMRC, and the ilk; people pushing their ideologies seemingly pop up at least once every generation. Kind of funny if you think about it, but if they were supposedly worrying about subliminal messages, they'd be focusing on advertising, but I digress. Anyway, I really love what they did with it all around; really made the song all theirs more or less.    Hear Better Than You, Better Than Me on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Led Zeppelin - Carouselambra   My song pick 2 years ago today: Dave Loggins - Please Come to Boston   My song pick 3 years ago today: Bon Jovi - All I Want Is Everything   My song pick ...

3579. Judas Priest - Beyond the Realms of Death

Image
From: Stained Class ; Year: 1978; Genre: Metal Had this epic song on my mind today; as usual I decided to pick it. It's a beautiful mix of melodic ballad with some heavy riff based metal; the musicianship and vocals are, as normal with Judas Priest, is off the charts. 3317-18. Judas Priest - Battle Hymn/One Shot at Glory

Image
From: Painkiller ; Year: 1990; Genre: Metal The other day I was playing around with the video game Brütal Legend , which is an incredibly fun game based around the genre of heavy metal, and has a lot of amazing songs on its soundtrack; this is among them. This these two tracks close out the album that would at the time be the last album from Judas Priest to feature Rob Halford for about a decade. He does a great job as ever lending his tremendous voice; for me, the guitars are also one of the main draws. Hear Battle Hymn/One Shot at Glory on YouTube. 990-1 ( Judas Priest - The Hellion/Electric Eye )

Image
990-1 ( Judas Priest - The Hellion/Electric Eye ) I felt like some classic British Metal this morning; for some reason I immediately thought of this Judas Priest track about an all-seeing satellite. The Hellion is basically a short piece usually used as an intro to Electric Eye , so I figured I should add it as well. From what I understand this song was supposedly inspired by the story of the dystopia laid out in George Orwell's 1984 . Here is the studio version on YouTube. Here is a live performance on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Learning To Fly My song pick two years ago today: The Four Top - It's the Same Old Song +
