From: Dowdy Ferry Road ; Year: 1977; Genre: Soft Rock Here is yet another track I have not heard in ages, most likely prior to me being a teenager, yeah, that long ago.... Anyway, whilst never a dyed-in-the-wool fan of the duo, I grew up hearing their their music a great deal, so I have a lot of memories tied to their songs. However, it seemed as if they faded a bit by the '90s, at least on the radio as I recall. 1076 England Dan & John Ford Coley - Westward Wind I heard this track whilst on the road this evening and figured it would make a nice pick to close out my Saturday. My mom and dada had the Nights Are Forever album and I grew up hearing this Soft Rock duo quite a bit from them and on the radio. This is a nice upbeat track which, if I remember right, came up somewhere in the middle of side one on the record. It is my favourite song off the album, this is mostly due their use of the "crying" steel guitar. Hear Westward Wind on YouTube. I recently discovered that Dan Seals, (England Dan), died a couple of months ago; it is weird that I did not hear about it when it happened. This is another one of those bands that I was deluged with when I was growing up and is also one of the ones that I ended up liking. For those who have not heard of them, they are one of those "&" soft rock acts that were popular in the '70s and '80s. Dan Seals was also the younger brother of Jim Seals of Seals & Croft; another "&" act. Anyway, I have never really been a fan of their popular songs, but I do like many of their other album tracks, mostly due to the George Harrison influenced lead guitar.
