William's Song a Day Blog - est. September 2007

From: Norsemen ; Year: 2019; Genre: Power Metal/Viking Metal I have not listened to this band in wot seems like ages; haven't chosen a song from them in a long while either... need to remedy both of those issues. Have not listened to a great deal of "Viking Metal" in a spell, and this has really given me a great sense of, (I cannot believe I'm typing this), "nostalgia." Hard for me to fathom that I had just gotten into this metal sub-genre about 20 years ago and couldn't get enough of it. Dang, has it been two decades....   Hear Freeborn on YouTube.       My song pick 1 year ago today: Fleetwood Mac - I'm So Afraid   My song pick 2 years ago today: Frank Zappa - He Used to Cut the Grass   My song pick 3 years ago today: England Dan & John Ford Coley - The Prisoner   My song pick 4 years ago today: Firehouse - All She Wrote   My song pick 5 years ago today: Jethro Tull - Motoreyes My song pick 6 years ago today: Ween - The Mollusk My son...

1610 Stormwarrior - Foreign Shores From: Northern Rage , Year: 2004 Genre: Metal/Viking Metal Having some difficulties getting motivated for the rest of my day, so I put some Metal on to get my blood moving. For no reason whatsoever I started listening to Stormwarrior's Northern Rage album and I figured I'd make one of the songs my pick for today. Stormwarrior is one of the newer bands that remind me a lot of late '70s British Heavy Metal, Iron Maiden in particular. Here is the studio version on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Larry Greene - Through the Fire My song pick two years ago today: Puhdys - Geh Dem Wind Nicht Aus Dem Wege My song pick three years ago today: Journey - Lights My song pick four years ago today: Rush - Anthem +

1448 Stormwarrior - Heading Northe From: Heading Northe , Year: 2008 Genre: Metal I found out about this German Metal band a while ago and I realized that I had not picked one of their songs yet. This is one of my favourites and the title track from their 2008 Heading Northe album. For the most part, Stormwarrior's sound reminds me a lot of bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Hear Heading Northe on YouTube. Here is a live performance of the song circa '07 on YouTube. My song pick a year ago today: Cab Calloway - The Jumpin' Jive (Hep-Hep!) My song pick two years ago today: The Police - Synchronicity II My song pick three years ago today: Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight +
