From: Silent Running Original Soundtrack ; Year: 1972; Genre: Folk Rock/Space Rock I just love these science fiction films from the 60s and 70s; the way that artists back then were smitten with the concept of "space cowboys" and how the great folk and rock performers melded the folk music, which is sung and played from the heart, to the idea of space pioneers. This was the title track, which music was composed by Peter Schickele, (also known as P.D.Q. Bach ), with lyrics by Diane Lampert was one of two songs from the movie performed by acclaimed folk artist Joan Baez. From: The Original Soundtrack Album "Silent Running" ; Year: 1972; Genre: Folk Rock/Folk Joan Baez's music and absolutely beautiful vocals have been on my mind a lot lately; I happened upon her two songs from the soundtrack of the early 1970s film Silent Running , which really caught my attention. All of the music from the film was written by Peter Schickele with lyrics by Diane Lampert on the those two songs sung by Joan Baez. For those perhaps unaware, Peter Schickele is the creator and "genius" behind the classical comedy act P.D. Q. From: Diamonds & Rust ; Year: 1975; Genre: Folk Rock Been real busy the last couple of days and have been rushing around quite a bit, so I guess I have been able to catch up on some music here and there only. One that I started looking into was Joan Baez, who I've heard some of throughout the years, but have never been deep into her material. From: Original Soundtrack from the Film Sacco and Vanzetti ; Year: 1971; Genre: Folk/Soundtrack I've had this classic track from the master composer Ennio Morricone on my mind for the last few days; I thought I would go ahead and pick it.
