Anybody who has heard the classic rockabilly track Hot Rod Lincoln would immediately hear its similarities with this track. Hot Rod Race was, in fact, the song that Hot Rod Lincoln was an answer song to.
This was arguably the first song to tap into the postwar hot rod craze in which teenagers would purchase old and essentially discarded prewar cars and modify them to go a lot faster with things such as bigger motors and newer technology. In fact, music of this type that glorifies cool fast cars and such lives on to this day throughout many genres of music. Okay, What is this "Song a Day Blog?" Well, this is a hobby of mine that I have been at for over 18 years now, (since September First, 2007), in which I set aside a few minutes every day to create my ultimate playlist in a diary form, if you will. I try to add a different song each day and share with those who are interested as to why I like the song and the artist that performed it and/or maybe some facts about them.
