From: Crest of a Knave ; Year: 1987; Genre: Progressive Rock/Hard Rock For some reason I had this song running through my mind for most of the day, so as I normally do I am making it my pick. Like much of the album this one is really carried by Martin Barre's guitar and is a bit heavier than other previous material from the time period. Anyway, this one is almost two songs in my opinion; for the first 2 minutes the music and even the lyrical/subject matter are separate, but that only adds to the dynamics. This is from their newest album that is actually the first studio material since their 1996 Motel California album, so it's quite a treat to hear more new songs from the band. From: Call Me Lightning (single) ; Year: 1969; Genre: Hard Rock I had no real song in mind for today, but this track happened to come to mind. I'm often one that likes songs written by John Entwistle; this one is no different. From what I understand this one was written about drummer Keith Moon's odd and erratic behaviour. The use of the tri-meter in the vocals really sells the feeling of insanity in the song as well as John Entwistle's vocals; it's definitely a gem for a b-side track.
