Last night I was binging on a bunch of stuff from Ugly Kid Joe and thought I would pick another of their songs.
This is from their newest album that is actually the first studio material since their 1996 Motel California album, so it's quite a treat to hear more new songs from the band. If you're used to their sound this one fits right it; I love it when bands progress but don't lose their sound or souls.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
