Start of another year, so Happy New Years! Although, to some, especially those who do not go by the Gregorian Calendar, it is just another day. I guess it could be considered a human construct based on the both the seasonal cycles and, of course, observations of the movement of the Sun and other celestial objects which in turn marks one orbit around our parent star, Sol. Whatever the case, the majority of current humankind recognizes this as the starting date of the year.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
