I learned yesterday of Eagles' guitarists Glenn Frey's passing; as I've been doing too much lately I thought I should pick one of his songs.
This is one of his bigger hits from his solo work away from The Eagles and was used as not only part of the Miami Vice soundtrack, but also inspired an episode based on it with the same title. Also Mr. Frey made an appearance in that episode apparently.

This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
