William's Song a Day Blog - est. September 2007

From: Boogie Motel ; Year: 1979; Genre: Rock I had music from Foghat this morning and was really surprised to discover that I'm over eight years and 3000 picks in without one of their songs on my list, so I'm taking care of that now. This is one of their singles that did okay, but you don't hear it a lot; a good song though all the same. Hear Third Time Lucky (First Time I Was a Fool) on YouTube. From: Golden Grass ; Year: 1968; Genre: Rock Yesterday while I was out and about I had this song come on. I checked to see if I'd already picked it, and surprisingly I hadn't. I've always loved this one; it's among my favourites from the band. The time-tested use of minors in the verses and then shifting into majors in the chorus is one of the main hooks to this track. This one was actually never officially released and only can be heard on an episode of the television show Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman , which was a somewhat popular show that was on in the mid 1990s. It was a Thanksgiving episode that both Johnny Cash and June Carter-Cash guest starred. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving! Hear Thanksgiving Prayer on YouTube.
