1035 Jethro Tull - Moths

I had a few songs in mind for this pick, but when it came on the iPod for the umpteenth time I figured I should choose it. My iPod must really love this track; for as long as I can recall, every time I have been on the road this song comes on. It is weird that 1 song out of the well over 5000 songs seems to come up that frequently.
Anyway, to describe this track I, myself would have to call it: Folk meets Disco. This is a rather poetic description of moths being drawn to an open candle flame and burnt to death. I love his rather vivid and beautiful descriptions both actual and symbolic.

From: Martika ; Year: 1988; Genre: Pop Since the other day I've had this track on my mind, which is another that I have not heard in decades. It's weird how certain songs will play almost like you are actually listening to them; this is one of them. Could still remember the chord progression, words and the instruments' sounds. Anyway, back in the late 1980s, (basically when I was a pre-teen/young teenager), I remember hearing this one a lot as well as a handful of other songs from Martika. If I remember correctly she was kind of already a household name prior to her recording debut with her acting career on a few films and television shows. Apparently Martika drew weary of life in the spotlight and the music industry in particular; she walked away after a few years and then reemerged about a decade later. I love bands like these where they are essentially a "supergroup," but instead of already successful musicians joining forces, these are successful musicians in the making that would go on elsewhere for it. I learned of Blue Mink through the works of bass great Herbie Flowers, who is among my favourite masters of the musical instrument. I wanted to pick this funky number, which was a single from just prior to the band calling it quits. Kind of neat how, even with them being a successful band, they continued with their side work of being session musicians during Blue Mink's run.
