Usually by this time I have one or two Christmas/Seasonal songs already chosen, but this year in particular I just haven't felt that "merry." If my mood doesn't change I might have to force myself to pick one....
Anyway, as of late my music selection has been favouring Steve Vai for some reason, which is not a bad thing at all. You end up with a load of technical musicianship along with something catchy and/or something to laugh along with. This one is a standard from during the height of The War, originally written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. From wot I understand the title and main idea of the song was borrowed from a sermon by a popular preacher at the time, Father Divine , which translated very well into an upbeat song. Anyway, I have had this concept record by Paul Kantner and company on my mind off and on over the last bit and decided now would be a good time to choose another track from it. This is the "grand finale" of the "space opera" concept, which features a big group of who's who from the folk rock scene at the time contributing on this track and a few others. Starship features the lead guitar of the late-great Jerry Garcia, although you really wouldn't need to be told that because it is so obvious his sound and style.
