6308. Blood, Sweat & Tears - God Bless the Child

From: Blood, Sweat & Tears; Year: 1968; Genre: Blues Rock/Jazz Fusion
I remember growing up hearing this one a lot; I really believe that it was my Dad's favourite from the band, which he liked quite well. I guess for me you can call it, as Max, who used to have a blog like mine, referred to a "dad music," i.e. music your dad liked and got you into.
This one's actually a cover originally written and recorded by the legend that was Billie Holiday. She wrote this soulful bluesy lament about the inadequacies and how those born to wealth have a much easier time whilst those born, (by accident of birth), into poverty have life the hardest. More or less calling out the "Pie in the Sky" belief system of the time that has more or less continued to the day, at least in this nation.
Anyway, BS&T really play the heck out of this one with all the soul and energy it is due.
