1752 Screaming Trees - Shadow of the Season

I'm picking a song from yet another band that I've neglected to pick a song from in the 1750+ picks I've already made.
About a year or so ago Arthur was picking a lot of '90s alternative/grunge rock, and I believe this was one of the song he picked. I have to admit that back when they were still together making music I was never really into Screaming Trees. However in the last little bit I've been going back over much of the music from that '90s Seattle "grunge" scene; while I don't like everything that the whole "grunge" scene produced, there is a lot of good music to be had.

1318 Queensrÿche - Fear City Slide From: Operation: Mind Crime II, Year: 2006 I've been heavily enjoying Queensrÿche's Operation: Mindcrime II album lately; this is one of many tracks that I absolutely love off of the album. This concept album is a continuation of the story begun on their '88 Operation: Mindcrime album. I can just imagine what the music critics were like when they first heard about this album: a concept album from a Progressive Metal band? They must've went completely apoplectic. From: Martika ; Year: 1988; Genre: Pop Since the other day I've had this track on my mind, which is another that I have not heard in decades. It's weird how certain songs will play almost like you are actually listening to them; this is one of them. Could still remember the chord progression, words and the instruments' sounds. Anyway, back in the late 1980s, (basically when I was a pre-teen/young teenager), I remember hearing this one a lot as well as a handful of other songs from Martika. If I remember correctly she was kind of already a household name prior to her recording debut with her acting career on a few films and television shows. Apparently Martika drew weary of life in the spotlight and the music industry in particular; she walked away after a few years and then reemerged about a decade later. I knew Pete Townshend wrote and sung on this track, always thought there was a recording of it on a Who album too, but I guess I was in error. I learned of Blue Mink through the works of bass great Herbie Flowers, who is among my favourite masters of the musical instrument. I wanted to pick this funky number, which was a single from just prior to the band calling it quits. Kind of neat how, even with them being a successful band, they continued with their side work of being session musicians during Blue Mink's run. 815 ( ABBA - I Let the Music Speak ) This one has been running through my mind for over a month now, it seems like an excellent pick for today. This is one of their most intricate songs that I have heard both musically and lyrically. It is amazingly arranged: very brooding with a classical waltz feeling in the verses and then builds in the pre-chorus and, (with the signature ABBA hook), it launches into the chorus, then it brings you back down. The song's subject is about a musical artist going through the creative process of putting feelings to music, treating the music as a living entity in almost the context of a lover.
